You are right, I said it wrong. It's not that they "compete". They can "cross-react".It is incorrect to say that somatotropin and insulin act on the same receptor.
HGH impairs glucose handling and blocks insulin signaling in muscle tissue reducing glucose uptake.The simultaneous presence of insulin and (exogenous) somatotropin does not reduce the effect of either hormone at their respective receptors.
Muscle tissue can still be anabolic in the presence of GH and insulin because gh only impairs glucose handling. Amino acid uptake is not affected.If the primary goal is maximal muscle growth, the combination of somatotropin and insulin can be useful.
