For all you Bush Fans

Mark Kerr said:
The first one, probably because we live in capitalism, and doing such would be deemed unconstitutional. (Specifically the 5th Amendment.)

As for the second statistic, is has been proven OVER AND OVER AND OVER, that the reason a family of 4 could live on just dad's income was that we (today) are a nation of spenders. Back then, the family had 1 one car (remember "Can I borrow the car for Sunday, Dad?"), paid cash for any large purchases, and rarely took vacations.

Nowadays, every member of the family needs their own car (Mom, Dad, 20 year old Jim and 18 Year old Jenny) and Mom and Dad HAVE to drive the latest high-priced SUV. No one if the 50's except the elite rich drove foreign cars, now there are people who drive Mercedes who make 40K per year.

It has been shown, that with the current value of the America dollar, the average person MAKES COMPARATIVLY MORE money than did their 1950's or 1960's counterparts. PEOPLE ARE FINANCIALLY MAKING MORE MONEY TODAY!

The problem is people needs have changed, and people just want more. More cars, more vacations, more credit-cards. This wasnt the case in 1950.

Oh BTW, did you know 75% of people on welfare have 1 or more cars, and 90% of those on welfare have color TV's with cable?

The reason we shouldnt throw money at the poor is that IT WILL NOT HELP! The people are poor because they ARENT GOOD WITH MONEY. They have holes in their pockets and that is why they are poor. Any poor person can get a minimum wage job SOMEWHERE, live in a crappy apartment, save their money, work their way up in businesses or start their own, and live above the poverty line. They CHOOSE not to.

If you think it isnt a choice, they you havent met many poor people. I meet them all the time at the DA's office, and trust me; it isnt society's fault, IT IS THEIR OWN.

Great post Mark. I couldn't agree more

I don't owe unemployed people anything, but what percent of the unemployed don't want a job, I think we might find that high, unless your talking about a job that pays 100k for nothing. There are jobs out there, may not be what you want but they will but food on the table.
I don't work because I want to, I work to have the life I want,

"Oh BTW, did you know 75% of people on welfare have 1 or more cars, and 90% of those on welfare have color TV's with cable?" This makes me sick that I pay taxes for them

I'd like to add something here. So shit was cheaper in 1950? Whoopty-do. When my grandfather got back from WWII he made less in a day than I make in an hour. Do you think that there might be a relationship between cost and wages? Do you think that a further increase in minimum wage would maybe, just MAYBE increase the cost of goods and services across the baord, thereby defeating the purpose of the wage increase and making things comparatively more expensive for me?

Oh, I'm sorry. You must have thought that 30k was the typical salary in 1950. That's why you're so confused.

Very good point on what raising the minimum wage will do to costs. However, how many jobs out there actually pay $5.45/hr. or whatever it is nowadays??? Hell, in my area, TAco Bell and McDonalds start you off at $7.75+/hr.

I honestly don't know of any jobs that actually pay the bare minimum. So, I'm not sure it will have that big of an impact.

Well, I have to disagree with you on that one. I don't know a single person who is worse off right now...and I live in the "great battleground state who has lost 220,000 jobs".

It really makes me sick when I read comments like this! Does it matter if you know these people of course not but does it make it right of course it doesnt. If you were a true American it would matter to you. If you cared about your fellow Americans it would bother to you , it shows a lot about someone who says something like that. I personally have a great job and I know I wont lose my job but I still feel for the millions who have due to Bush.

You are right about one thing I am definitley not "all Kerry" but I will tell you something I dont see how it would be possible for him to run this country any worse than Bush.

LOL....why are you so right and I'm so wrong??? Why am I not a true American just because I don't agree with your backward socialistic views.

You are right, I don't care about every American because not every american cares about me!!! I care about my family, my g/f, myself, and my dog!!! Taht is it.

If that makes me a bad person, then so fucking be it. Trust me bro, your opinion of me isn't gonna keep me awake at night.

And you are so shallow minded you can't see that Bush is NOT responsible for these job losses. Lets talk about NAFTA. Lets talk about the EPA (who is running jobs out of this country faster than anything). Lets talk about the FDA.

And these "loopholes that give businesses tax breaks for outsourcing" that Kerry and his minions like yourself love to talk about....have actually been in existence for over 30 years. However, 30 years ago companies were not really competing with foreign labor and raw material suppliers, so it wasn't a very big deal. Nowadays though, we are starting to see the effects of this as well as the effects of NAFTA....Clinton's brain child.

Don't feel sorry for me man.....I don't need your lame pity. You have socialistic views in that you believe everyone is "entitled" to a job and a great life. Your views do not reinforce the belief that hard work and determination are what get you ahead in this countty....not a bureuaratic politician.

What is so bad about me wanting people to work hard for a good life. Why do I have to "feel bad/sorry" for them??? As a man, my job is to take care of my family. I can't worry about everyone else.

Kayz your on point my brotha...I'm by no means rich...I only clear about 30k a year ,and quess what ? I do not blame anyone for that...The life that I live{which is not bad/but could be better if I would go get my education in} is result of the choices that I have made...It kills me too see some people that are completely capable of holding a Job or going to school constantly asking for a fucking handout...This falls on the shoulders of yourself not the fucking President....Just my 2 cc's

Muscleup my friend...you are a great American.

Let me tell you a story. Last year, my g/f and I had to go to Colorado Springs for her best friends wedding. Well, we took a day and drove to Denver to do some shopping and just hang out and have a good day.

We ended up going to 16th street mall in downtown Denver, which is supposedly the tourist area of the city. I have NEVER seen so many homeless people in my life!!! And over half of htem were in their 20's.

MY g/f and I were walking down the street and this young girl (maybe 18-20) is sitting on the ground with a sign that says "please help feed a homeless teenager". Well, as we are walking by, she says to me "can you spare some change??". I said "I don't have any (which wasn't a lie...all I had were traverlers checks)". She then responds to me "well, can you spare a fucking smile???". I just looked at her, shook my head, and kept walking.

Here is what pissed me off though. 10 minutes later I see her in the street playing hackey sack with about 5 other people. She was perfectly healthy and perfectly capable of getting a job and making something of herself....but she "chose" that lifestyle.

I'm sorry, but I have a difficult time feeling pity for her.

Bottom line is the average person on the street. Everyone I know was better off with Clinton in office than they are now. Over 900,000 children in this country live below the poverty level. Thats what bush has to be proud of.

Sorry, but how ignorant. The recession had already started during Clinton's last year of presidency; Bush had nothing to do with it (do your homework). I own my own business and like to keep as much of MY money as possible. Trying to say that Bush pushed "900,000 children below the poverty level" is just uninformed. Also, right now we don't need some pussy flip-flopper in office when we've got radical bastards out there that want to kill YOU and the rest of us.

Hey, fuck you cockgobbler!!! :D

Jesse Jackson and his son need to be shot in the head....they are a waste of air and do nothing but divide this country on race.

Agreed, but I'm a little more kind these days. I'd just exile them over to their wonderful home land, Africa.

I agree completely...I may not have the education I want{yet} but I get my ass up and work 50 hour work weeks, at a job that I really do not like...Why ?Because I need to support MYSELF...I like the satisfaction of paying my own bills and doing things for MYSELF...Too many people are willing to sit on there ass, and ask for handouts...It's simply a crutch...Now don't get me wrong, their are always circumstances in which people need help, but being healthy and able to work and begging for change is just plain lazy.

We live in the greatest country in the world. Oppurtunity is everywhere... It's up to you to take advantage of it people...Stop blaming it on your upbringing,The president, and Your so called disabilities, etc. {No offense to those who really have them} If you really want to be successful then go do it...If you do not have the desire, or drive then shut up and accept "the norm"...Pretty easy to understand too me.[

Sure, those whom legitimatley need help (and I';m not including heroin addicts in this as they chose to live that lifestyle) should receive help. I'm talking about a 92 year old woman with no family and no means of taking care of herself. But, a 20 year old girl whom is perfectly healthy and able bodied is on her own IMO.

And atomicone....I agree, we can send JJ and JJ jr. back to Africa (the Homeland) and call it even.

In fact, for all of you whom demand to be called African American and not just American.....would you like a one way ticket to live in a flea/fly infested village where poverty and hunger is second to none??? Would you like to live in a land riddled with civil war?? Would you like to live in a land plagued by genocide and AIDS??? If so, then by all means go.....but don't bitch about it when you wanna come back!!!

Can you please show me were I said any of the things you stated above. I said I feel sorry for those who have lost there jobs , nothing more! How does people that have worked for years at their companies and losing there jobs have anything to do with lack of hardwork and determination. Once again you make little sense. You say your a business owner I honestly cant see how you would be successful at all. Plus you should be worried about the unemplyoment rate no matter how you look at it for the most part if your a business owner in the end owners suffer when more people are out of work.Your right as a man you do have to take care of your family but as a real man you should pray for others who arent as fortunate this has nothing to do with politics it has more of to do with morals , you honestly make me sick to my stomach to think soldiers die for people like you , its a damm shame. This is not a political statement are you so "simple minded" and self-riteous to interpret this that way.

Well, as a "small business owner" I can honestly say that my business benefitted greatly from his tax breaks. I could have taken this money for myself as a nice bonus, but I chose to re-invest it into my business.

I'd rather not say for security purposes. Many of you know where I live geographically.....and my families business' are really the only one of that kind in the area....it could give my identity away.

You can doubt my success all you want bro....I'm laughing all the way to the bank. Not that it is any of your business, but if you must know.....my family (i.e.: my parents and my grandma) are worth in excess of $10 million. Myself, I'll be a millionaire by the time I'm 30!!!

How do business owners suffer more when people are out of work???? It is the opposite bro...there are many workers to be had.

And I"m not worried about the unemployment rate as it is at a relatively low 5.4%. Now I know what you are gonna say: "yeah, but people who have been out of work for over a year are no longer considered unemployed". True, but neither are people like my g/f who quit her "low paying" job as a pharmacy technician to go into real estate...where she is technically self employed. She counts on the Household empolyment rate....which is often a better indicator in that it takes into account those who got out of the work force to become self employed.

oh my bad I thought you said you got were you are with hard work and determination , actually you were just born into money , that explains your attitude
