Blood Pressure

This thread’s been solid so far, let’s not mess it up with “just Google it, bro” energy. If you’ve got good info, links, or actual experience - drop it in. Help the crew out.

Anyway - about blood pressure meds:
Yeah, high doses can mess with your liver. It’s rare, but it happens - especially if you’re stacking a pharmacy in your bloodstream. A few examples:

1. Lisinopril – Great for BP, but in rare cases can make your liver throw a tantrum (elevated enzymes, jaundice, etc).
2. Amlodipine – Usually chill, but can bump up liver values when it’s feeling spicy.
3. Losartan – Mostly safe, but there are case reports of liver issues, just to keep things interesting.

That’s why bloodwork is non-negotiable. ALT, AST, ALP, bilirubin - your standard liver panel. Trust me, your liver will thank you later (probably by not quitting mid-cycle).

Very good post. I gave the the meds to look out for. I felt and see how lazy some of these young guys are not putting the time in doing there own research just like at the gym they go on gear a month after they start training because they don't want to put the time in building a good base. Also if you notice if it doesn't fit there narrative these young guys don't want to hear it. They know everything.. like I said I seen a lot trained many guys who don't go off and just cruise and cruise is stupidly. Trt in there 20s stupidly. Maybe I am just tired of people not listening and frustrated because a client and friend didn't listen and destroyed his heart and just had to get open heart surgery because he would just never go off and kept cruising on gear at lower doses with test and Deca. Guess what he will never be the same again. You think he is worried about muscle right now hell no. Nothing wrong with doing gear but be smart do your cycles go off give your body a break keep training and eat well.listen to your body.

You don't need high doses of any of those. Low doses of an ARB + CCB will smash down BP with nearly zero sides.

This thread is turn into another circlejerk off "drugs that protect your body are bad cause they're not natural...
but taking steroids, that's natural and fine!"

Saying they're give you liver damage is trash advice because the risk of it happening is almost non-existent, yet the damage from high BP (which naturally comes with old age) is 100% guaranteed.

I say if you are suffering from high bp, your kidneys and your heart are much more likely to give out before you liver ever does. Keep that BP under control. Almost anyone can find a good inexpensive med combo with very few sides.

Your missing it.

Know what the most common reason for acute liver failure? Acetaminophen at around 46%.

Antihypertensive medications account for 14-19 cases of drug-induced liver injury per 100,000 cases (of drug-induced liver injury).

Someone is definitely missing something.

Facts! That's what you're missing! Facts!

Sooner or later most people will end up on a BP med because of age regardless if they're bodybuilders.

Fuck off with your dangerous, outright malicious "bp meds are bad" advice.
Ok take it easy Sherman. You know everything thankyou for your advice I will take it into consideration. I never said to not use blood pressure meds you idiot I said if you need to use high doses while on gear lower the gear or go off. But hey what do I know. I am a beginner.

You have my sympathies. Unfortunately, we all know people who may have started with a good plan to safeguard their health only to start diverging from the way and ending up with life-shattering issues that they could have avoided.

Just be cautioned not to ascribe excessive danger to something because you saw it happen to someone you care about.

We all do our own risk ana... well... we should do our own risk analysis before and during our journey with PEDs, and that includes regular medical checkups, regular and comprehensive labs, studying the science behind the compounds we employ, etc. We also have to have the wisdom to change our plan and even stop if our individual situation warrants change.

Fair point, and I agree with most of what you said. Just to clarify though - I wasn’t trying to spread fear or claim BP meds are inherently dangerous. The only reason I brought up the liver side effects is because it came up in a previous argument with zero sources or nuance, so I figured I’d share some actual data on the topic.

Do I think people should avoid BP meds because of rare side effects? Absolutely not. I take Telmisartan myself when needed. But I also think it’s fair to mention even low risks, especially when folks are already on multiple compounds.

And yeah, the irony isn’t lost on me - we’re all here poking ourselves with gear, but draw the line at 5mg of lisinopril. Gotta love it.

Great post

This got stupid feal fast. EVERYONE who takes gear has to have a blood pressure management plan. You have to ALREADY have blood pressure medications before you begin a cycle (and a monitor), because it's going to get high and you better understand and know what's happening.

It's funny because: liver can regenerate

Kidneys and heart can't.

So where am I gonna risk it? Using BP meds and in case I get liver issue I'll adjust or not using BP meds because maybe I'll be the 0.001% that has liver issue with those?

Get the fuck out of here moron.

Never heard of telmisartan nebivolol Cilnidipine/lercanidipine giving liver issue.
We monitor our liver values anyway so what's the big deal? Liver is super resistant unlike kidneys and heart

Your alleged IFBB Pro Card doesnt make you an expert on any of this yet you keep bringing it up like it gives you credibility.

I've worked out with multiple pros, some have stepped on the Olympia stage, and they just take what their coaches tell them to most of the time.

You offer nothing to this thread outside of claims you haven't backed up and 'google it'. Why are you even posting?

The irony is bodybuilders from 10+ years ago as a whole never measured BP or cared about it much. They thought it was "weak" to take a BP med.

How did that work out for them?

The typical ARB/CBB/Heart selective beta blocker stack would have saved a whole lot of lives.

> "Oh but if they quit gear they would be fine"

Bullshit. Any big guy is gonna need a BP med regardless of gear. Most of America has high BP.

> "Oh but you're just a bunch of young roiders who don't wanna quit gear"

Most of us are 30+ and on TRT.

Any ideas on how to get systolic number down? My Diastolic is in a good range but systolic is seems to always be somewhere between 133 and 143.

Been running Telmi 80mg, Nebivolol 10mg and Amlodipine 5mg daily. Have some rosuvastatin on the way.

Add eplerenone it's specifically made for resistance hypertension as the fourth drug

Ive been running test only for quite some time. It was such a good experience that only recently i took my blood pressure. Consistenly 160/87 pulse 98. Ive been training extremely hard , eating good, walking a lot every day, perhaps not enough hard cardio. Blood work is nearly perfect, TSH increased from 3 to 5 (ive been bulking hard), kind of low ferritinin but upper level iron in my blood. I took today analysis potassium and sodium, I hope i will be low on potassium or something.

If anyone knows what tests to run to understand what is making my bp high please let me know

age : Im in my early 20

The cause is simply the testosterone.
