Bigger legs equals once a week training.

Saw this...

The guys with the biggest legs do one quad focused leg day per week. They do hammies another day.
If this is the case, why is it said by so many to have two leg (quad focused) days?
Hardly any pro is doing legs twice a week unless the other day is hamstrings. Did they beef them up twice a week before moving on with once per week?

Quad Focused from what i gather still means they do things like squats and stuff, which hits everything. So even though its “quad focused” or “hammy focused” it still hits the whole leg.

From what i learned legs do actually take longer to fully recover then upper body.

I see...
That's a good point. But many of the guys I see, their quad recruiting movement for hams is higher stance leg press and that's all. For example I think Brett Wilkin and Martin have a youtube video out. Ill watch whole video.

Exactly that does make a big difference.

close low stance kills quads and high wide stance kills hammies.

this is so true. I forgot about that.

I am trying just now for the first time to split up my legs to quads and hams. I like it so far, but the proof will be in how tightly my jeans fit in the thighs.

I couldnt recover vey well from doing both quads and hams twice a week, so now i do quads+ham pump work and hams+quad pump work. i might do 1-2 exercises for 2-3 sets of 10-30 reps on that pump work or do a superset or something ilike that.

How is it working, or too soon to tell?

My legs suck, so I am hoping this brings them up. I want Mac11wildcat-type legs, if possible, please . . .
Too early to tell, but my performance seem to be better so im sure i'll be seeing the results from it in a few weeks :)

I think a lot of quad development comes down to stance position concerning muscle tie in points and genetics. When I ditched the high stance leg presses and went lower with less weight to get more quad stretch, my quads took off. I felt like I wasted my time all those yrs using 15 plates a side with a high stance on platform

And a close stance, put then together dam! Low and close.

I agree with this completely, I don’t train my legs often at all, and they’re likely my best body part with zero effort.. wishing my biceps were like that too.. my triceps grow really well but it’s like my biceps need to be inflated with an air pump or something.

Could you please post a pic of both stances you mean? I m doing leg extension right now, resting... I’m under the sun and more retarded than ever

For what it's worth, this has been working. These stubborn things appear different now (that post was in November).

I am still not setting the world on fire with massive quads, but they did respond, so maybe over time they can become respectably decent sized.

This is a good read from John Meadows on using the leg press for quad thickness.

Another interesting article - this one on training frequency and volume with legs as an example.

Another interesting article, specifically on body part training frequency. I don’t know if I would train following this recommendation exactly as outlined, but definitely some interesting insight.
