Appreciate it. I read through the whole thread (usually try to before asking questions, but honestly got overexcited for a moment), and Healing pharma is the way to go.
I'm curious, would this work for folliculitis/seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp as well?
I've been to countless derms so far and have tried countless therapies - ketoconazole, nystatin, corticosteroids, etc but that damn scalp doesn't want to stay clear. The only thing that helps me is benzoyl peroxide 10%, but it's a hassle to apply and even though I wash it thoroughly and shampoo after, I still managed to ruin a few clothes because it tends to bleach colors.
This, eliminating the acne on the body, would be awesome; doing it on the scalp would be ecstatic, lol
Yes.
For me, the benefit to fixing hyperseborreah was as, if not really more impactful than curing acne. Obviously they’re connected, but it’s the overactive oil glands that were at the root of the problem for me.
Being able to go a day without washing my hair (if not twice) and not having it end up an oily mess was practically a miracle.
Androgens only worsen the problem, making the glands grow larger, and then any fluctuation in hormones, or carb intake, made the already overactive oil production go into overdrive.
No more crazy earwax, or collars getting dirty in a matter of hours.
On top of everything else, pores visibly, and in some areas on the face, dramatically shrink, making skin look much better. Your nose will shrink. (Aka the “accutane nose job”).
All this without overdrying (in the long term, things will be dry while actively on treatment).
Be aware for this to really work, and for the benefit to be durable, you need the high cumulative dose protocol, 220mg/kg or more. This is the dose needed to cure bacne / body acne in most people anyway. Lower cumulative doses are only fully effective for facial acne. You’ll get the benefit at lower doses, but after stopping, there is partial rebound growth of the glands, so you need to crush them during the treatment.
I wish I had done this long, long ago. It would’ve been a major quality of life improvement, and would’ve spared me some hair loss, because follicles produce DHT locally, which get dissolved into sebum, spreads on your scalp like you’re applying “Hair loss oil” daily, and is very difficult to wash off once it soaks into skin and other follicles. On top of that, demodex, the parasitic skin mites that live in pores, which all adults end up getting, thrive on sebum. They overpopulate, die, and their bacteria laden rotting corpses cause inflammation speeding male pattern hair loss even more. (For improved skin, it’s good to eliminate those with a round of ivermectin in any case).
You’ll finally know what “for normal skin” or “for normal hair” means on cleansers and shampoo.
