STOCK UP: Don't say you weren't warned! (US)

They're going to give the new system deployed against Chinese packs 90 days, then meet to decide if it should be expanded to other countries. India was specifically mentioned.

Peptides remain legal for now. and it would take a new law or regulation to change that, a slow process so there would be advance warning.

I am concerned about the door slamming shut unexpectedly on India pharma though, and have been building multi year supplies, with the goal of 5 years+ of essentials. It's already very difficult to get in the EU for instance. It may happen here next.

Luckily most pharma has a very long shelf life, and the blister packs India uses to protect against the southeast Asian climate are perfect for protecting tabs. A Mylar silver bag and refrigeration should, with only a few exceptions, keep them good for a decade or more.
LoL.. Even India is clamping down on India pharma. Some drugs are soon going to be a bit more difficult to come by. Even Pakistan is joining in the fun

IF YOU'RE IN THE US AND ORDERING FROM CHINA SOON YOU SHOULD ASK THE VENDOR IF THEY'RE GOING TO HANDLE CUSTOM'S DUTIES OR WILL THAT BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

DELAYS OR RESHIPS MAY RESULT IN ARRIVAL AFTER DE MINIMUS ENDS ON 5/2.

THE ISSUE ISN'T THE MONEY, BUT WHETHER YOU WANT TO HAVE TO PAY CBP TO GET YOUR PACKAGE RELEASED, WHICH MEANS YOU'RE ACKNOWLEDGING YOU'RE THE "IMPORTER".

Starting May 2nd, someone, either you the recipient, or the Chinese logistics company will have to take responsibility as the "importer" of record for packages coming in from China.

Besides being liable for paying duties, the "importer", will take on much more legal responsibility for the contents of the package.

If you become the "importer", and scheduled drugs are found it's going to be hard to deny you knew what was in the package. This is a big change from the way things were previously where you had plausible deniability "I didn't order that'".

If a shipping company takes on that role, and scheduled drugs are found, the fines will be very heavy. Under the new requirements, the shipper is expected to positively identify who exactly is shipping that pack. If violations are repeatedly found the logistics/shipping company will be suspended costing them millions. They will do everything they can to prevent contraband from being shipped in their loads, so I expect shipping will become much more of a challenge for UGL vendors.

Since every package will required to provide much more data now, this will fuel AI systems that will target specific packs for inspection. For instance, "trusted sellers" like Temu and Shein will not have their packs routinely inspected, Packs coming from unrecognized sellers or sellers who were previously found to ship contraband, packs going to Americans with previous seizures or criminal records, names that don't match addresses, or suspicious patterns will be selected,

Logistics companies have been given previews of this by CBP, as a warning not to deal with packs from suspicious sellers. For at least the last 2 years, these systems have been fed training data so they can identify packages with a high probability of containing contraband.

If you can wait, it might be preferable to hold off until we see how this shakes out and how vendors deal with this, I think the risk of many taking the opportunity to disappear with your money during this chaos is high.

Don’t worry you might not need to worry about it anymore if your king decides to impose 1000% tariffs or China decides to stop trade completely. Win for USA, they get to produce their own iphones yay.

Literally over. In many ways in one. Let's hope Mexico starts smuggling it in lol

It's the countries like China that rely on the huge imbalance of exports to the US (largely created behind tariff walls preventing US imports) for their economic survival that are under pressure. Not the one that might have to pay 10% more for cheap crap at Walmart or $100 more for an iPhone every 3 years. No country can survive with huge and growing trade deficits year after year because of one sided, artificial barriers making their companies and workers increasingly less competitive.

Anyway, it's not the tariffs that create the problem for AAS. Illegal drug sellers aren't known for listing an accurate value on customs documentation, it's the new requirement of the "formal entry" process that forces someone to take responsibility as the "importer" that's the main issue,

Oh I'm sure it'll find a way in, somehow, like every drug there's a demand for.

The question is how much more it will cost, and how much lower quality and selection go.
Ayeeeee chuloooo want dem raws yaaaaa? Come ovea here and give me some slop hombreeeee I'll give ya discounteeeee

If you think your major import from China is cheap shein/temu crap then you will be shocked if you do your research.

China is also a major owner of your debt, they can definitely afford to let you guys make your own factories or force to pay the import tariffs.

I could say one thing US won so far, lots of people got rich with the insider trading tips from the oval office. Maybe even China.

At the risk of another 'political post' ban, many people (including the main boss) appear to be clueless about the imported things. When I was Pharma contracting, the amount of chemicals shipped from china was ridiculous!! at least Half of my former companies APIs were sourced from China, even though the final stuff was 'made in the USA'.

Oh that’s right political stuff is a no no lol, lets just talk products and trade then.

Apparently electronic parts and components; machinery and mechanical components also make up most of the imports. Then you have furniture and plastics.

Well I guess we'll see how right you are....fucking Canadians (lol...I might have been born and raised there....love the country, but you are born into a caste system without even realizing it there).

The USA for all it's warts, is still the greatest country from top to bottom (note: not "the perfect country")

I’m sorry man, I just wish your King doesn’t keep threatening our sovereignty like it’s precolonial times.

USA is the biggest economy and the world leader in most metrics, but let us not forget that at one point the Mongols and the Roman empire did too.

As for us gymbros, I wish everyone have enough stock piled just incase this trade wars escalate further. Now, I suddenly don’t regret buying too much raws lol.

Pharmaceuticals are exempt from the tariffs. Along with a lot of raw materials for manufacturing. If I remember correctly, electric boards are exempt also.

I believe all of this actually has to do with the debt. A large portion of our debt has to be repaid in the next few years. This is because the yield curve has been inverted for quite a while. This means you get higher returns on shorter time frame bonds. So people have been buying up all of these short term bonds. Because we have to borrow money to pay for debt, it would be like refinancing at a much higher interest rate. They have to get the interest rates down and the only way Powell is going to do that is if there is a recession and things are breaking. He is sending the markets down on purpose. The trade war is just the cover story and the tariffs are just our new tax because 10%, hell even 30% is not enough to bring manufacturing back.

I don’t think these inspections are going to go away under this administration and them expanding it to more than china makes sense. A law or regulation is only good if they can enforce it.

Both sides of the aisle are to blame here. I’ll leave it at that.

I could also be completely full of shit because I am just a dumb ol’ hillbilly.

Have you seen the announcements from pharma companies over the last few weeks?

Cancelling plans in other countries, and shifting that money to build R&D centers and plants for manufacturing active ingredients in the US:

...and after years of of shifting away from the US, into countries where heavy government subsidies make them artificially more competitive, the EU is being warned the party's over. Under the threat of tariffs that level the playing field, the pharma industry en masse is relocating to the place that's been paying the bills (through much higher drug prices than the rest of the world) for decades and where the bulk of their profits are actually made:

I typed up an itemised response, but this was exactly why Millard slapped me with a 2 week ban on QSC thread so
I'll just say the dissonance is pretty obvious.
on one hand exemptions for pharma, next post talks about big stick wielded for pharma.
The Schrodinger benefits world where reduced tariffs everywhere allows poorer countries that can't afford our goods to dump their cheaper ones on US soil while at the same time, implementing protectionist tariffs that bring jobs back without affecting ROI.

Summary: If you haven't stocked up by now, then hope and pray things resolve quickly.
The grass may be green, but when 2 Elephants fight, it's that very grass that suffers..

OK, please forgive me if this sounds stupid, but considering all that is going on and a potential for limited access to certain compounds. Is there anything we should be stocking up on more than others? Like, is anyone aware if some things going to be in shorter supply than others?

Its too late to stock up, but this has nothing to do with de minimus.
Manufacturing of goods was the problem. Not transportation.

Btw whatever you get,.make sure you rest it. Not be a retard and rely off other people's testing.

You are already fucked bro you're not going to be able to stock up now on those compounds
