Captchas (message to the admins)

Is there something we can do about the annoying captchas?
If i'm logged into an account (not a new one) why do i have to prove i'm a human 20 times a day.

I access the site from two cellphones and a computer at home and i understand this might have something to do with it. But again I'm logged into my account, it doesn't make sense to me.

Meso probably gets ddosed a lot, so its annoying but necessary. What helps is opening only 1-2 tabs at once, don't open like 5 different threads at the same time.

Who would ddos them, what's the point? Genuine question not being an ass.

I thought it would be obvious:

Who?

EVERY source who has EVER received a negative review, or been criticized, or exposed with a poor lab test result, or otherwise had anything negative posted about them

Why?

MESO categorically and consistently refuses to remove, delete, or otherwise censor criticism of sources.

Having a forum where all members can freely criticize underground sources creates powerful enemies with long memories.

I completely understand the frustration over the anti-ddos measures. We continually work to optimize thresholds for a better user experience.

It is challenging because the legitimate visitors use a lot of the same tools as illegitimate members e.g. TOR, VPNs, etc.

Hopefully, the inconvenience of a few captchas is worth the tradeoff with the total freedom you have to hold sources accountable.

I access Meso from a desktop, laptop and 2 cell phones and even if I am currently using one device the captcha thing pops up like every 5 minutes or so while browsing the new posts or making a post.

Here’s an idea that has been implemented elsewhere:

For extra account verification set up a $5 “donation” for a captcha free meso experience

When it was first implemented, I got it many times a day. Now it's maybe once a day (or less). And I'm one of the ones who scrolls down the first page and opens all the threads I want to visit before reading them.

Something changed for the better and I don't mind it now.

I didn’t know this existed. Does anyone do it? $10 per month is steep, I might pay that for a year. If i don’t have to deal with captchas

I have spent far too much of my life clicking crosswalks, fire hydrants, & buses…. Mesos captchas aren’t bad at all.

Some of the other ones drive me crazy.

No. It does NOT allow bypassing of captchas.

There is no benefit for regularly-contributing members.

The paid option currently doesn't offer anything that isn't freely available. It only benefits members who want to unlock full privileges instantly rather than contribute posts and wait until they level up.
