Attached is the case report/PDF. It's real. Happened in fall 2022… no idea what the kid was thinking but very unfortunate. From what I believe is a medical journal.

I applaud all of you on this forum time and time again giving good advice to those of us who may or may not know.

For folks who don't want to download a PDF, here's the sauce:

We present a first lethal case of HGH acute toxicity. A young-agitated-athlete with a history of somatropin for the past 2-year, who had hallucinations referred to the emergency department reporting to have abused of 300 mg subcutaneous injections of HGH. He was tachycardic with mild hypertension. Lab data revealed hypernatremia (157 mEq/L), hyperkalemia (5.3 mEq/L), high LDH (1448 U/L), and CPK (2620 U/L), in favor of rhabdomyolysis. Routine drug screening tests were negative for all substances. He was intubated due to low O2 saturation and progressive loss of consciousness. After several episodes of hyperthermia, hypertension, and possibly pulmonary embolism, he died subsequent to somatropin overdose.
There's even more in there too that happened than the abstract lets on.

Sorry! Should have posted the URL. Thank you!

"He was reported to have abused 30
subcutaneous injections of somatropin, each containing 10 mg/1.5 mL all at once"

I'm a bit skeptical that this is true. He was in a really bad shape, hallucinating, out of it. Maybe he injected 30 vials, that seems more plausible. Still a high dose, but not 900 IU's ... Interesting they didn't measure his serum GH levels. Probably don't have the equipment in the er?

Am I reading this correctly he took 900IU's of HGH in 1 day? How does a 20 year old even afford 900IU's of HGH, surely has to be one of the most expensive overdoses of all time too
Trust me, I read this asking questions out loud. Lol

I think some of the information is ambiguous. I believe it mentions there is no drugs in his system during the time but they did include the serum levels. Could it be mostly true? Absolutely. Nonetheless I think it's more credible than some outrageous stories.

But who knows. Thought it was interesting.

so what was the acutal cause of death? He developed an arrhythmia and then cardiac arrest? Bro this is fucking tragic man I cant believe he would do this.. Makes me think he was trying to get views on social media by doing shit like chase irons..

No autopsy, no pathology report, and no official cause of death at least from this report.

Hypertensive crisis and the pleural effusion are concluded to be directly ensued from his somatropin toxicity which were supposedly brought about by its fluid retention effect. The high d-dimer could have been suggestive of a probable pulmonary embolism (PE), however in light of his rapid deterioration, chest CT angiography could not be performed. Eventually the cardiovascular collapse is deemed to be attributed to PE. On the other hand, based on his chronic use of HGH, an increased ventricular mass and acromegaly related cardiomyopathy might had been accountable for the sudden cardiac arrest.

The authors seem to equivocate. Lethal acute toxicity or hypertensive crisis coupled with LVH from chronic PED use?

We present a first lethal case of HGH acute toxicity

Thanks for posting.

is this real has it been confirmed? sounds like some government propaganda scare to demonize PEDs
So far as I know it's legit. Here is another link. I just searched quite a bit. I think it's one abnormal incident that captured attention. I've yet to find any further information on overdose.
