Worf's 1st meet log

If your knees hurt get some of that "horse liniment" for them. Comes in an orange bottle with a horse on it. I wrap my knees up and douse it with that stuff. Works wonders. And its OTC at most pharmacies

Phone a few pharms @Btcowboy. I know in our city it's easy to get. Or you can get it off of amazon for 41$ delivered to your door. I just checked and they have it online and available

This is what you want to be exact

Knees are still fucking hurting. Ordered some of the Horse liniment.
Going to a seminar this weekend. Gyms opened here yesterday at partial capacity with some extra rules. I’ll probably be going back next week.

@Worf for your knees, while im not sure what part of your knee is bothering you, but prior to squats warm up with some hi rep hamstring curls super light weight. Along with some TKE's or some Spanish squats in higher reps.

i had patella tendon pain in both knees about a year ago, doing those things helped. Also, if you may want to do some pin squats in place of normal squats. With the pin being slightly above parallel, or before you reach pain. I could hardly get up out of bed and squatting to or below parallel was impossible with the pain. Sounds like your case isnt quite as severe.

Weight moved damn good today. Actually was a bit light for speed work but I prefer it to heavier % for speed. I may have to re calculate my max since I’m repping near my old max on bench now. This training has shot my bench up, also finally getting tightness, technique and set up down (for me) has paid off.

Attended a powerlifting seminar put on by Rob Hall. Great coaching, was a small turnout since the seminar was postponed so many times. That meant more one on one. Got some good pointers on squats got a few things to work on. Small stuff like rooting my feet and keep my head up, breath pushed into the Diaphragm/belt and less into the lungs.
Bench was pretty good, he said no need to make any adjustments. Looks like all the hard work on my bench form has paid off.
Deadlift went well. Was a little sloppy with lighter weight. Conventional looked really good, needed to sit back a little more before the initial pull but wasn’t an issue with heavier weights. Got some good cues for sumo and pretty much had it nailed after the first rep. Just minor adjustments now. Much better than my last seminar 6 months ago where I had to reinvent my bench and squat needed so much work.
It was good to be back in a real gym. Pretty busy in there.

Wish we had some of these up here.

Dave Tate says that calf work eliminates knee problems for squats... worth a shot, no?

I used to do seated calf raise machine every time I went to the gym and never got much from it. They don’t have anything like that where I train now so it’s barbell starting, leg press or put a plate on my knees and sit down. I should do a little more of it

Pit shark paused squats 2 sec
3 plates 3x8

Neutral Grip Pull Ups
Bw 6 sets, 5 reps 30 sec intervals

First day back in the gym. Felt good to be back. Not that the garage was so bad. Made some progress, had some solid sessions in there.
Did some stretching and mobility stuff before and after training. Also some calf work to see if it will help my knees. Got the Horse Liniment. Helps a little. Those spider bar squats were brutal. Never used that bar before. Seemed a bit heavy for speed work but the spider bar is “supposedly” easier than the SSB since the weight is a little behind center of gravity instead of in front like the SSB. Not sure I believe that.

Good to hear you're back in the Gym.
Cant wait to hit up some real weight and push some PRs.

Thought about maybe taking some time off squats to heal the knees?
Obviously you know your body, just wondering if you considered it

I’ve skipped a day here or there and they do feel slightly better but it doesn’t eliminate the pain. Basically my left knee feels fine after a few days away from squat movements but there’s always the right knee hurting pretty much regardless. From climbing shit at work or kneeling. Shit doesn’t go away anymore. Been training with a small group and I’m trying not to puss out. Everyone has their aches and pains but I’m the oldest by 6 or 7 years. Waiting for a check to come in and go through with Stem cell/ PRP.

Had to take yesterday off the gym because I worked. My knees feel better, my back feels better, I feel better. So. Guess I needed a deload. My pec is hurting and shoulders are a little beat up, I might have to skip a day to let my upper body recover.

You'll like PRP. I did that a few years back for a torn shoulder. Had to do 3 rounds of it to be as effective as they should be. Workouts are looking good. Nice to see someone do the board presses. Don't see many people do that these days
