The grip strength thread

Forgot to try this at the gym.
Definitely hitting it tomorow.
I have no idea how good my grip is, my DL gices out before my hands do.
I also have tiny fucking hands, I cant even properly hook grip the bar, so I just hold on with my fingers and leave my thumb resting in front with my fingers

Should be fun!

Best one yet with two 25's.

@JetsFan you just want to pinch on flat sides and not cheat by gripping under the lip of the plate. Just pinch and hold.

Are you left handed?

I got 42 seconds today in between deadlifts with 25's... Thought I had longer in me but time moves different when you're watching it. Going to work up to sets of a minute and then try 35's. Those were tremendously harder.. I'm not sure how but, the size, not just weight, of the plates seems to play into it.

I'm actually right handed. I have some issues with my right wrist from an old injury and grip is weaker with that hand. I can only hold about half the time with my right.

I tried two 45's again today and couldn't get them off the floor. Will try 35's next time.

I thought for sure this thread was going to be full of grip test numbers from dynamometers. I'd guess the avg male squeezes about 90 lbs. Id guess avg lifter squeezes 115-130, power lifters and laborers (maybe bricklayer) 160ish. Im just guessing. Fun topic!

i recently made a barbell using 1.5" iron pipe. has a outside dimension of 1.9", and i wrapped with some sweet green hockey tape. Does anyone have any suggestions where to find a 2.5" or 3" barbell? I know tds has them but i havent found anywhere else. just looking at options at the moment.

I've been reading the dinosaur training book and it inspired me to try fattie barbells.

I'm liking this thread.

All I know is the various brands of axle bars, nothing that fat though. A guy at my old gym whose dad owns a fabrication shop custom made stuff like that. No idea what it would cost normally.

The old iron plates had collars with set screws. There were inside REMOVABLE collars. So u could take those off and put on a sleeve to make the skinny dumbbel grip thicker.
