Starvation mode

Does starvation mode make a body hold onto fat? I have been told by some that it does not. I think it does. Then some say it's a complete myth. What do you all think about it?

starvation mode..wtf is that! Unless you're planning on not eating for the whole week.. I highly doubt you'll go in to "starvation mode" even if you haven't eaten anything within a 24hr period..

Lol. I was in a debate with people who swear it is a myth. I think the body slows metabolism when the brain thinks it is in a starvation mode. And when more calories are eventually added, it holds on to fat more than it should. Oh well. :)

Basal metabolic rate slows bc when you lose mass you need less calories to sustain the less mass.

The second part about the body holding onto more fat when calories are added back in is wrong.

Trust me if you're starving yourself while on gear, while still being active, you will get lean very quick. You'll also lose muscle mass. In the not so distant past I had a short drug relapse and used large amounts of heroin and a bit of cocaine here and there. Well during this time period my caloric intake was minimal. Sometimes 2-3 meals a day max, sometimes only one. While still being on a moderate dose of anabolic steroids. I lost a decent bit of size, but probably got down to about 7-8% BF. Insane definition. I do not at all reccomend going this route. Do it the healthy way. Don't starve yourself. Eat clean foods, in a caloric deficit, and exercise intensely.

A gal was stalled and wasnt losing fat....and eating around 700 Cal/day. I dont think she was on gear. That's what sparked the debate I had with some others about starvation mode and that it causes the body slow metabolism to compensate. I don't see how she was still fat on 700 calories a day, though even if metabolism slowed down. That's a big deficit.

700 cal/ day is a deep deficit for just about anybody, even a small female.
If a person has a lot of weight to lose and a ton of discipline they might be able to do 700 a day for a while just to reach a goal weight and then raise calories to maintenance.
Your deficit will eventually become your maintenance, and what kind of body can be maintained on 700 cal/day? Skin and bones.
Whether there's anything to starvation mode or not, a person on 700 cal/day long enough will at least look like they're starving.

Bc people tend to underreport calorie intake whether done intentionally or unintentionally.

Plus, aldosterone and cortisol raise during dieting and the ensuing water retention can mask fat loss in the scale.
