serious pain in shoulder

hey bros, i have been getting sharp pains in my left shoulder when I do incline bench and shoulder press. I used to get cortisone shots for bursitis, but now my shoulder will stay sore for 3 or 4 days. The pain is right in the joint where the collarbone connects with the arm. any help would be appreciated. I injured it badly when I was young, doing negatives with too much weight. I think i may have scar tissue, but not sure. let me know what you think.

I have the same prob, on my days where I know I have to press, weither bench or shoulder days I use a 25lb db and use each arm and swing the wight front to back and back to front, it seems to help me.

rotater cuff problems -- i teach Martial arts (im 34) and have gone through that before, do some RT exercisews stay off flat bench, upright rows, and Militart press for a while --until you strengthen that cuff.

it's hard to diagnose this type of injury via the pc. it may be rotator problems, or it may scar tissue from repeated trauma or it may cronic bursitis. imho, you should go to a good chiro or sports therapist (or both) and get a professional diagnosis along with a sound rehab plan.

regardless, as houseofdogs said, stay away from all exercises that aggravate this injury. these may also include biceps work and not just chest/shoulder work. as an example, when i had rotator problems 10 years ago, barbell curls used to hurt like a mofo. train smart and see someone sooner rather than later.

Same Experience

I recently went to a orthopaedic doctor for the same thing. Its not rotatator cuff problems, its an ac joint inflammation. I was diagnosed with something called osteolysis which is slight bone deterioration at the ac joint. I was on cycle at the time and told the doctor and basically he told me that my muscles grew to fast for my joints. I have to refrain from all pressing movements and then I'm fine. It sucks though because I have to do all flys and cables for chest. You can seriously screw up your ac joint if you continue to fight through the pain.

yup...none of us are qualified to diagnose your problems....and anyone that maybe qualified will be unable to do so over the comp.....go to a doc bro
