I love running , trail, uphill ... but problem started after 3 months on trt ... i get crazy pumps in calfs and shins first 30min of running and after everything is good. Im not beginner runner so im used to run... yes i got 3 extra kg but i dont believe thats the issue. Im supplementing taurine 5g daily and pottasium...even tryed l citruline and cialis.. but nothing is helping me to get rid of this pumps. And i dont want to stop trt or running.
Help me please.

When I started back running after putting on 25lbs I was also getting crazy calf pumps. My right shin especially felt like it was on fire. I started noticing a few things. One, I was dehydrated. Two, I didn’t stretch before or foam roll after. Three, I have an old injury that changed my running gait.

So I went and had gait analysis at a running store and bought new shoes for my running "style". I started wearing a compression sleeve on my right calf. I made sure I was hydrated properly. I stretched before, and foam rolled after. For about a week or two I treated the first mile as a warmup. I would stop, stretch more, then carry on. Taurine didn't do shit for me but I have no idea if it will help you.

Your body will adjust. For me, I had to first change my expectations. Run, stop, stretch, carry on was humbling when I used to be able to click off miles easily. Good luck.

Loosening your shoes can make a big difference.

The problem is the muscles get overdeveloped, and the pumping problem gets worse over time. It's called "chronic compartment syndrome". Sometimes some combination of warming up, and stop/starting will get you past the pain. Other times, nothing will work.

Botox injected into your legs/shins seems to be the best solution available and I'm surprised at how uncommon it is.
