That said there are plenty of mass murders carried out by guys into their 30's and 40's that go postal.

The first thing you do is shore up your security. Harden the schools so guns and weapons can't get into the school at all.

Simple solution for me is keep your school supplies at school. Get rid of bags and anything that can conceal a weapon. Go to digital textbooks, digital calculators that are available in class and at home. Put security at one entrance in two doors of bullet proof glass, you have to go past this one person to get into school. Just like most police stations you walk into these days with the dispatcher behind the window before you're allowed to go into the station to talk to a detective or anyone else.

That wouldn't be that expensive and it would actually make it easier for kids instead of carrying around all those heavy textbooks and all that crap. Keep school supplies in the classroom, paper, pencils....

We need to take a hard long look at what is happening to us in this age of modernity where we have our basic survival needs mostly taken care of, but at the same time we are slipping into lunacy due to our own inward awareness and intense focus on the value and the power of individuals. With no external means of providing a meaningful order we have left it up to the chaos of the individual to search out a meaning.

Mental health has to go through many layers to try to find meaning in a world where everything is relative and questioned. Bureaucracy, Technology, Social Structure, Hierarchy force us to adapt to that which goes against our nature from tens of thousand of years when none of this stuff was very organized. These rapid changes simply don't match our biology, while they might keep our tissues alive and sustain us, might provide medicine when we are sick, our mental heath is at odds with this.

Modern life requires disorienting and dizzying cognitive requirements that one must meet societies needs, but at the same time be aware of your own needs and these two end up in contradiction until something snaps.

What this ultimately goes back to is that humans need a tribe, they need a connection with nature, it is what supports our mental health. What we have created on the outside looks spectacular from a material view, but what we have created is a nightmare for those that look inward and so people will flip out as they have no tribe, no means of feedback, no intimacy with other humans.

We aren't being honest without ourselves, we have lost our human side of things, we aren't asking what people would actually like to have for a life and instead we offer them a life of service to a machine.

I have never in my life saw more people that had no clue outside a textbook than that of those graduates. Now, you can put me in their world and id be out of my element. For sure. But with the education they have you would think they would have a good grasp of ...the basics...all I can say. Not. A. Fuckin. Clue. Dumb as rocks. But hey, they have a nice degree and make a good living in their chosen fields.

Not all cyclists are pussies, many of them are on blast cycles comparable to body builders. You might be thinking of the climbers that weigh 150lbs, that's not crit racing where bodies are much bigger and stronger. I've trained with guys that were world champion international track cyclists that had bodies as big as anything standing up on a stage, only these guys were a hell of a lot better physical conditioning, genetic freaks.

I understand your point, but by the metrics we measure success these days(not my standards as I have broader views) they are better off long term. They live longer, they have less mental illness, less likely to ever experience poverty especially from being laid off our made obsolete.

They are entrenched in the system and rewarded for credentials. I'm always going off on Credentialism and Rankism as I see them as two great problems that gatekeep and limit potential.

Sure these kids aren't experienced with doing many of the things most of us guys have to do or learn over the course of our lives. They hire someone to do that work for them, they have offices, lecterns to lecture behind, there lives are on paper, they are expected to perform at a high level in that world, but they might not even know how to screw in a light bulb. There is data that points to the fact that as IQ goes up the lazier you become.

The thing is you get paid a lot more doing what they do and for being who they are. That's how our society is set up, paid for who you are, not for what you do.

That said there are engineers that obviously have technical and practical knowledge. It's not all worthless academic pursuits, some do take a more practical route other than getting a PhD in diversity.
