Newbie Here-Low Testosterone....Any Help

Hello,
I am a 28 year old male. I have done 2 full cycles of anabolic steroids. The last cycle was 3 years ago. I have taken Propecia for the last 3 years. I have taken Paxil for approx. 4 years. I have quit Propecia about 4 weeks ago. I quit Paxil about 5 months ago. I have lethargy, depression, low concentration, low libido, and even stumbling with my words when talking. Based on my own research I firmly belive that my symptoms are from low testosterone but no one wants to treat me.

Here are my blood results:

FSH 2.0 (0.7-11.1)
LH 2.3 (0.8-7.6)
Prolactin 10.6 (2.5-17.0)
cortisol 14.0 (4.0-22.0)
IGF 263 (114-492)
TSH w/reflux to T4 2.79 (0.45-4.50)
Total Testosterone 485 (260-1000)
Free Testosterone 2.38 (1.0-2.7)
Tesosterone, Free 115.2 (50-210)

I realize I do not have an estrogen result. I have taken a new blood test including estrogen about 3 days ago. Still awaiting the results.

I am also having a hard time finding an MD to treat me. They all say that I am within the normal range. Yea maybe normal for a 85 year old male.
Thanks

While far from an expert I will throw in a thought .........you may want to have your DHT level checked. Having done the Propecia for so long I would speculate its possible you have a very low DHT level. The symptoms you exhibit are common to many men who take Propecia especialyl long term. I am sure when Swale has a chance he can chime in here as I know he works with a group of men in that boat.

What time of day were these labs done? People usually seem to leave out this information, but it is important, b/c your Test levels rise and fall depending on the time of day or night. You levels seem low normal if they were taken early in the morning, if they were taken late in the afternoon, then I would suspect that everything would be higher if the labs were drawn at the appropriate time.

The blood test were done about afternoon time. I recently had some blood work done at 8am and then again in 4pm. I am still waiting for those results.

i doubt testosterone is what is causing your problems

I think maybe some of the symptoms could be linked to withdraws from coming off Paxil. These withdraws can come in some very strange forms and can last for years. So yes, maybe not all symptoms are linked to Testosterone. Maybe DHT levels are low from the long term use of Propecia. Maybe my estrogen levels are abnormly high as well. One thing I can say, I recently took "Forza-T" which contains ZMA, 6-oxo, and Tribulus and felt great. I was upbeat, clear minded, and my libido was in high gear. So to me it seemed my hormones were playing a part with my symptoms.

so that's why I'm on this board. Hopefully some of you can help lead me in the right direction with your knowledge.

With a total T level of 485 taken in the afternoon... I would say your T levels are quite normal... Your free T is great. You do not need TRT.
The after effects of propecia for some guys can be a HUGE problem.
There is a group on Yahoo full of guys experiencing problems like yours.
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/finasteride_side_effects/
cheers.

I was hoping I you would post that link, MM. I think there are a lot of guys who would benefit from that group.

I certainly HOPE you are not suffering the long-term effects of finasteride poisoning.

It might be nice to see how you feel on a very modest dose of a transdermal gel. The DHT boost might help you.

And, yes, the SSRI can cause these effects as well, but not now that you have been off from it so long.
