MP's Meet Training Log 3rd Edition

close grip bench 10x185, 10x225, 2x8 245
tate presses 3x10 50
pressdowns 3x12 90
pull throughs 2x12 120, 2x10 140

Tricep work kept light to avoid straining the pec. I'm sure this was of little value but I feel like my bench is badly undertrained going into the meet next week. The good news is the way 365 moved earlier in the week in spite of the chest pain I should be able to get 390 which will likely be my 2nd attempt. Beyond that I'm going to need some an adrenalin boost to get me above 400 with the lack of bench work.

deadlifts 5x1 425, 1x450, 1x475
low pulley rows 3x10 250
pull ups 3x10

Speed pulls to finish up meet training. 475 didn't move as fast as I would have liked but wasn't bad. Stiff regular Olympic bar and ever meet I have ever done I have greatly benefitted from a more deadlift friendly bar and adrenalin boost. I will open at 495 and hopefully close somewhere close to 600.

Shitty meet training cycle due to injuries so we will see what happens. On the plus side no cut will be needed. Morning weight 196.8 today.

Thanks Mr. B I appreciate it. Some day I would like to find a meet to compete in your fine state. No matter the result that would be a fun trip.

I'm just thankful @Devika has been nice enough not to call me out when I've gotten close to or crossed the line with her in a couple of threads. That body definitely gets the heart rate up.
 
Will the pec has felt much better the past several days and I really didn't feel good about trying 400+ Saturday without testing it out a little.

Ended up working up to 390 which moved ok. Not fast for sure but not a grinder. Best news was no pec pain working up or on the top single. Several hours later I'm still good. Didn't get near enough bench training in for the meet but at least now I will be able to cut loose on Saturday without the pec injury being prominent in my mind.

I will do just enough the rest of the week to keep the blood flowing and to avoid going crazy.

Had to go the massage route as I developed a large and painful knot on my right glute just below the waist line following last Saturday's final training deadlifting session. Ice and nsaid's weren't helping.

It is better after an hour of deep tissue yesterday so I will give pulling a go tomorrow but may have to shut it down. On the plus side I worked up to my 365 bench opener Wednesday and it moved fairly well and more importantly with no pec pain.

Made weight at 192 this afternoon which is a bit lighter than I was hoping for but not a big deal.

I have no idea what to expect tomorrow but I don't plan on holding anything back so will have to see how it goes.

Lol. Not even a pleasurable sensation Eman.

She spent the entire hour in a very small region in my lower back and upper glute and kept saying "you've got a lot going on here and you need to come in at least once a month to keep this area loose." I'm sure it was largely a sales pitch but at any rate it wasn't exactly a confidence builder.

You either succeed or get thrown out. Worth it. :D

If she said 'you've got a lot going on here' while you were on your back I'd say you were in business :D

Good luck @Masters Power . Also my wife is a massage therapist and if you go once a month it will keep that knot smaller. I get one massage every 2 weeks but mine are free.

Downhill from there as I was one and done pulling. Locked out my opener but my right lower back and glute were screaming no more so I had to pull the plug.

Never had any real back issues before so I'm going to make sure I get it back right before I do much with it. A bench only may come next. I will figure out in the next month.
