Making the switch to powerlifting, Gobuckeyes 2017 log

Overhead press day, 1x1 220 and a PR. I'm trying for 225 in 3-4 weeks. I was going to try it today but decided against it.

I'm about to hit the gym and try to get solid bench session. If my shoulder is feeling good I can finally shoot for 370 1x3 then drop to 340 3x3. Let's see how it goes. I'll know once get over 315.

It has. 315 goes up easier now I think. My incline bench has sky rocketed too. Good work on 370. I can't wait to hit thar number.

Thanks bro. I was actually able to get to 405 1x1. Then I dropped down and and 365 3x3 for 3 count pauses. My shoulder felt great. I could have added a little more weight after the 405, but I more a little more for pauses I felt would be better and more total poundage for the week. Since I am taper some as I approach either a mock meet or test out my 1 rep maxes.

405 is fucking beast mode bro. I totally fucked up today and let my breath out while doing 275 paused squats. Felt my back pop. I was able to stand up and rack it but it didn't feel good. It's better now, about a hour after but I can tell it tender, again.

Shit man It feels good to for my shoulder to be getting better. Today is a day off and tomorrow will deadlifts. I will spend time voodoo flossing my shoulders and elbows today. As well as some mobility work and most likely take the kids to the pool overall should be a relaxing day.
 
I had a pretty shitty squat day. I'm getting in my own head now about my form, whIch is causing me to have bad form. I let my breath out Friday which caused my back to hurt, so I was nervous today about it. I need to relax, and just do what I know how to do.
 
I just did my first meet last weekend and I'm hooked. Ive always trained bodybuilding so this whole game is new to me as well. Deff subbing to this. Good luck I'm also following the welder 531 program!!
That's how I felt. I was hooked once I started moving some weight. Ima keep on wendlers program until the end of the year. That will be 12 months. I've made some nice steady gains on it. Then I willl re-evaluate what I wanna do.
 
Bench press day. Worked up to 1x5 305, I failed on my last rep tho. I needed my spotter to help with the last couples inches. My head wasn't really in it today. I watched some show about drug addicts over the weekend and they showed people smoking crack n shooting up. Didn't affect me at all that day, but I had crazy dreams last night and woke up this morning having flash backs of the first time I shot up and the feeling I got. I've been clean for over 10 years and I'm proud of that, I just hate remembering how I used to be.
 
Slept in 2 hours but still doing cardio. I'm not actively dieting anymore. Not really tracking what I eat for awhile. Im not pigging out or anything and I'm still watching what I eat but not really caring if I'm over or under calories for awhile. Need a break from it.
 
Nothing special today. Just overhead press today, worked up to a set of 5 at 200. Will attempt 225 in 2 weeks. Still trying to get my sumo deadlift stance figured out so my deadlifts that has kinda stalled the last month and half but everything else is still progressing nicely.
 
I think I'm getting my sumo deadlift form down. Worked up to 1x5 405 and it went up nice and felt good. It felt way better today than it ever has. I think I was rushing it before, I wasn't pulling myself down to the bar and getting tight enough. Ima stick with it for a couple more months before I switch back. And this is the first week I did all my breathing correctly while lifting. My back feels awesome, still foam rolling it, and I'm really concentrating on breathing. I watch a lot of people at the gym and so many people don't know how to lift it's funny.
 
Squat day, worked up to 1x3 415. My right knee is still kinda bothering me a little. Not enough to affect anything yet but I can tell it's not 100%. Today was probably one of my better squat days too. I taped myself and my depth was spot on today and so was my breathing. Last week I wasn't hitting depth when I was squatting. Have today off work and I was still up at 2:30am and at the gym at 3:30. Get in and git r done!!
 
Took Tuesday off bc of the 4th so I benched today. Now my schedule is fucked go so I'll either have to deadlift tomorrow and then overheadpress Friday which means 3 days in a row or take a day off and workout on Saturday bf I go in for OT. Felt good to lift today tho. Bench 320 1x3.
 
Forgot to add this yesterday. Did overhead press, was suppose to work up to 1x3 210 but only managed 1 rep. I was tired, sore and should have skipped my workout and did it today. I have a new work schedule for 3 weeks, 4am-2pm. So I'm either waking up at midnight to workout or doing it after. If I wake up before I won't see my wife except for on the weekends. So I'll probably end up doing it after work which I don't like to do now. I go to a commercial gym so I hope it's not crowded in there around 2 or I'll be pissed off bc there is only 2 squat racks
