Oh shit!!! I benched 350!!! Nice pause at the bottom and everything. But man did it hurt my elbows. I made sure to keep them in, it just hurt on the decent. They don’t hurt now and didn’t hurt after, just while I was lowering the weight. I’m pretty excited tho bc that’s a 15lbs increase in my PR for bench. Which just means I was sand bagging it lol i was going to try 365 but didn’t want to press my luck.
Well woke up and my back hurt but I went ahead and squatted anyways. Had an awesome work out. I did PR on squat at 455. Looking ahead is helping my back not hurt while squatting. I think when I use to look down, I would lean forward and that’s why I was always riding on my toes. I don’t do that now. The only problem I had today was the bar slipping on my back bc I was so sweaty and didn’t have it locked it tight. I still got a chance at a 500 squat by the end of the year.
Thanks for the tips and yea I was thinking the exact same thing. I have a hard time getting into position for low bar squat. I don’t thjnk I concentrate enough on elbow position.I get the same type of pain it sounds like on bench. Racked out or coming up on the concentric is fine. Coming down on the eccentric can hurt like a bitch. It's likely a shoulder issue. Squats might be tweaking it and you're noticing it on bench. I'm doing shoulder mobility work and working on external rotation of the elbow to help it as well as widening out m squat grip. Pressed last Night with no pain and hoping to bench Wednesday no pain also.
Edit* forgot to give congrats on the Pr!!!

Squatted Monday, had a lot of pain in my elbows. Benched today, more pain. So Ima start rolling out my arms again, been watching videos and I’m definitely supporting some of the weight with my arms. So Ima work on that Friday with light weight.
Thanks broski!!I do quite a few of these and ive gained in some shoulder mobility and zero elbow pain
it's new territory man, not easy to do both physically and mentally.Well I’m a half repping motherfucker lol I half rep my attempt at 465 on squats. I wasn’t used to that much weight on my shoulders and when I lifted it, I let doubt creep in. I should have unracked it, held it for awhile, unracked it and then tried my attempt after a min or 2. I’ll get it next time. My form looks good except for that half rep. Elbows don’t hurt, I’m not holding the weight anymore with my arms.
It’s not. I sometimes think to myself, shit that a lot of weight. And think how far I’ve come from the beginning when I thought 225 was a lot of weight.it's new territory man, not easy to do both physically and mentally.
I was a good foot from depth. I kinda chicken shitted out and bailed on it. That’s for the info on what you do tho. I need to get a routine down. I did finish the week on a high note tho. I deadlifted 525 which was my goal for the year. Are you recording your sets? Is that how you know the depth wasn't there?
But yeah, as soon as there's a split second of doubt it's over on those heavy lifts. I try to give myself a certain number of breaths and then just go in without thinking. I have a little ritual on heavy squats. Grab the bar, pull on it, then drop down and get up underneath it, position my shoulders evenly, then my feet, then take seven breaths and then try to unrack it powerfully. I find that when it feels hard to unrack it, it gives me a mental hangup about how heavy it is. Anyway, lol, that's my heavy squat setup.
