Low or high carbs when cutting

Cosmetically speaking would it hurt to have lower carbs (100g) as opposed to a higher intake like 300g? What works for you guys when it comes to looking as lean as you can when cutting? Reason I want to stay dry is to simply have a good measure of visual progress without any deceptive water held.

Less carbs equals less water retention and bloating.(for me at least) but also decreased performance and recovery.

Though keeping sodium low and water intake high will help

Yeah it’s a catch 22 for me choosing between looking leaner vs improved performance

I am doing a Test/Tren/Mast cut now, and I wanted to experiment with carbs this time and go extremely low...like keto low.

The cuts are amazing, the energy from ketosis is amazing (it fights the Tren lethargy), but my workouts have been shit. Recovery time is shit. On 300mg Tren weekly I normally would be able to bang out 2 workouts a day and feel like a daisy in the morning. Not this time. Don't know how long I can do it. But I committed myself to 12 weeks.

So energy outside of the gym is great whereas performance suffers? and how would you compare your body comp now to cuts with higher carbs?

I am one of those body types that I think does not respond well to carbs. Even slow digesting carbs tend to pack on body fat for me. I know it goes against the conventional bodybuilding wisdom, but a lower carb diet is the only way I can stay lean and build muscle. Also, I think Tren is so powerful it doesn't need the carbs that many people say it does. But yeah, performance definitely suffers, for me. I am forcing myself not to carb up, even on heavy leg days, and it's a bitch. But as far as cutting goes...I've never been so lean in my life.

I’ve heard of people responding bad to carbs, I wonder why it is that way for some. Idk about carbs packing on fat though, I think it’s probably water retention which can appear like fat

I keep carbs as high as possible as calories permit. I cut out fats first. It’s all about calories macros don’t matter besides protein. Do whatever is sustainable. I’m dieting on 300 carbs, 300 protein, 10 fat. Protein is liquid egg whites and protein isolate, all carbs are fruits, fats are almond butter.

Carbs don’t pack on fat, excess calories do. Your body cannot create something from nothing. No one is special in this regards. No bodies metabolism defies the laws of thermodynamics.

You should never cut sodium. The only reason people appear bloated is if they’re too fat. If you’re lean carbs and sodium will make you fuller. Sodium also helps with muscular contractions amongst other things.

Guess it depends on each individual and how they handle carbs. When in a caloric deficit I do notice visual differences despite losing fat at the same rate. It’s more psychologically motivating when water isn’t masking progress

You will lose more muscle because you won’t be able to train with the same effort and intensity. Also if you’re cutting carbs and sodium you’re doing it wrong. Without carbs you need more sodium to help you stay hydrated.
if you’re worried about how you look from point A to point B instead focused on the final outcome then your results will be mediocre

For the guys that are worried about being bloated from carbs, switch over to fruits and see how it works out for you.

I just cut on high carb, lower fat, high p. Worked great. Probably too steep of a deficit. I did 3200 cal prob woulda been better off at 3300-3500. Im undulating calories right now but my metabolism works best on lower fats

I’m only eating around 2500 right now. Soon I’ll pull out the rest of my fats, up protein, then pull out carbs, and eventually be on only 600grams of protein for a month or so.
