So take hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg and 30 mg Lisinopril for my BP. My rbc has been high so started take grapefruit see extra to help lower it. I just read the two should not be combined. Anyone know why and what problems could occur?

Do you mean the two drugs or the drugs and the grapefruit ?
The hydro and grapefruit. The lisinopril is fine.

It (grapefruit) inhibits P-450 enzymes that metabolizes some drugs, so the bioavailability/concentration will be high as f*ck......

Hm interesting. Could that be why I have been feeling lightheaded and dizzy in the gym? BP hasnt been crazy low though

Grapefruit has nothing to do with hctz or lisonopril metabolism. Neither are metabolized by P450 enzymes. .
OTHER bp drugs are, so believe it or not, that warning seems to be based on them all getting lumped into the same basket of being interfered with by grapefruit.
I guess they assume users of BP meds are too stupid to distinguish between them so the blanket advice to avoid is erring on the side of caution.

I googled hydrochlorothiazide and grapefruit and it did say to avoid the two?
