Yesterday on the monolift my partners kept fives and tens. I know I failed a 420 pound attempt. They kept adding, told me to quit thinking, get under the bar. Lost balance on my last 2 attempts.

I recently found this a pretty good way to lift. Not knowing what's on the bar. As long as the coach doesn't push it to far.

Where do all you guys look at when squatting. I always thought it was suppose to be looking down a couple feet ahead of you. But I recently read a article when the author said that it can cause lower back pain. Which I get sometimes from squatting. So I changed this week to looking ahead , with my head up. I haven’t been doing it long enough to see if it’s helping.

I keep my head in line with my spine, so slightly down for low bar and mostly forward for high bar.

I look up because that damn bar is sitting cross armed across my throat and its how i am able to breathe

I look straight ahead because I like to see myself in the mirror

Head in line with spine use a pvc pipe your head thoracic spine and coccyx spine should all touch the pvc pipe throughout the whole movement regarluess low or high bar back squat. Where your eyes look form that point is personal preference.
Awesome. Thanks

On a low bar, I too have neck parallel to spine. Have gotten rid of the tendency to look up when the Shit is getting heavy. Eyes fixed at one point to avoid balance issues.

Am getting close to my all-time-record again now. Form is nailed.

My best ever, 545 for one, 455 for 3.

Broke my back in 2009/10 and haven't squatted over 225 since.

Nor sure on the exact fall that broke me, I did not know I broke it until an MRI a few years ago. I fell once on 09 and once in 2010. I just knew it was never the same. Haven't dealifted more than 315 since then either.

Take care of your back, you only get one!

Quit doing BB squats a few years back, but I was up around 455 for reps. The vertebrae in my neck just can't handle the weight anymore and even with lower lbs the bar just fucks my neck up bad. People think squats should always be a MUST, but truth is they ain't that important aside from ego building. Heavy deads and good leg work is just as good.

Whats Your 1RM like doode?
Thats a good question lol. I do my percentages for this month based off a 1rm of 410. That # goes up 10lbs a month and percentages are refigured. I've been reluctant to test my 1rm as I've been happy with my current progress. Maybe I'll try this upcoming Sat. It's 1 rep day on the program that would be a good time. Maybe I'll go for 405...?
