How much ya skwaat?

I've never used a 5x5 program before but have you ever tried Smolov? I started doing that back in highschool and loved it

They say smolov is good shit, but you can't deadlift on it right? That scares the shit out of me, 13 weeks without any bar pulling ...
 
Getting signed up for a powerlifting meet in april. Probably 242 weight class and in sleeves.
is it a local meet? I know you're local to me, only reason I'm asking. I'd love to check one out and see how far off am from the real powerhouse guys!

Yeah I never did the full thing, I usually just do the 4 weeks of high volume, I think it's the "mesocycle" I'll have to check, but I love doing that everyonce in a while to increase my workload capacity

Thanks LS......Its been a very long road full of aches an pain but thats the name of our game hahaha. I'll never be a Phil Heath an thats ok. Im very happy with the progress I have made thus far. Theirs nuthin to it but to do it. Rep by rep, set by set, an one day at a time;) Its always a pleasure to see you aroun brotha:cool: Hope all has been good in your neck of the woods. Yeah it's local. It's a warm up meet, and just for fun really.
If you're comfortable giving me a heads up on where and when that would be sweet. No worries if not, I completely understand wanting to stay anonymous.

I feel like most PL meets local to us are not listed online. I don't see many. Kinda like if my gym hosted one or something, that's what we have more often than not, locally.
 
I been laying off the heavy front squats for the past 2 months. That FS 495 1 rpm goal is gonna take a back seat.
Been switching gears as i like my legs as shredded as they are strong. Having both is nice :)
Meadows has me switching things all up.
Todays leg day was:
Leg curls to failure (multiple sets)
Leg presses to failure (multiple sets)
Front squats
Glute kickbacks

I dont ever do em in that order and ill tell ya after i smoke my hams then smoke my quads i have to do front squats?!?:eek: then after everything is blown out i do glute specific work

Try banded leg press. Meadows is a huge fan of those. I'm gonna be doing a lot of them too. I want 32" legs
 
Madcow 5*5 tagged on 20kgs/44lbs to my max so far. 5*5 seems to work well on the squats for me. I should be hitting 200kgs/440lbs by summer.
That's simply do to volume at certain percentages. If you did sets of 5 for a few weeks, then 3s and 2s and finally singles you'd probably get there a lot faster.

Squatted 365 beltless high bar today after 4 ramp up sets. Probably could do a paused ATG 405 beltless high bar. Don't know what it is but my high bar feels much more comfortable then my low bar now, I can still squat about 40lb more low bar then high bar but just feels unnatural now.
