I just got some basic lab tests back from my doc (he wouldnt test for T and others that Swale mentioned).

BP: 110/68
Pulse: 56
Total Cholesterol: 144
HDL: 54
LDL: 79
Triglycerides: 60

How do these compare to normal? I am 24 and 213 at roughly 14%.

BS

BP and pulse look good. Ranges are: Total chol <200
HDL >40
LDL <130
Tri <150
You're looking good, man.

BTW, I would press the issue on the other tests, or look for another doc that will, if that is important to you.

Hi Bob, I only wish my numbers looked that good. The cholesterol is great, the HDL is good also with the cholesterol/HDL ratio being a heart protective less than 3:1 ratio. Can't beat the blood pressure and the pulse, and the trigs are good. It would be nice to see some other chemistries such as liver enzymes, inflammatory markers, glucose, cbc, hormones etc. How are you feeling? Take care. Greg B.

I feel fine. Ive lost some weight recently, so I dont feel like a bloated goat anymore. I'd never had my lipid profile checked so I wanted that done. I keep pretty good track of my BP and pulse.

The doc said he wouldnt do the tests unless there was a family history of something related to it. ANd he definitely wouldnt do the LH, estrodiol and other "female" hormones." If anyone knows where I can search a list of life extensionist doctors, please let me know. They are usually more willing to help out in those areas.

Bob,

I'd suggest you check out the Life Extension Foundation for a list of doctors. http://www.lef.org/doctors/directoryofdoctors01.html.

Originally I had blood work done through the Foundation (discounted for members) which included CBC, blood chemistries as well as a complete hormone profile. After seeing a few numbers which caused me concern I made an appointment with a doctor from the LEF list. (Note: these are physicians who have an interest in life extension and nutrition but, are not necessarily endorsed by LEF. I fact the doctor who was my first choice turned up with some disturbing things when I did search of his name on my state Dept. of Health web site.)
The doctor I wound up going to has been excellent. She's very open minded in the areas of supplements, HRT and even prohormones

Figures...the closest doc on that list to me is at least 100 miles, some closer to 200.

Any other Life Ext type orgs around?

Bob, I would go back and tell him that you have been feeling tired, have no sex drive (but have no problem "performing" when you do), and that you basically lost interest in things you usually enjoy. Tell him after doing research you want your test(free and bound), estradiol, estrogen levels checked. If he refuses, tell him it is your decision and that low test levels are not hereditary and that if he still refuses you want him to give you a referral to an endo. My doc originally recommended anti-d's; I told him that after doing my own research I found that like 50% of men on anti-d's did not need them and that they actually had low test levels. He did the test and I started androgel 2 weeks later. Hope this helps.

What happened to your old avatar of the girl w/ the great ass? If you are done w/ it, can I use it? It is a shame to waste that pic.

I have a two word answer for your Lipid Profile:

I'm jealous.

A significant percentage of those males whose CHOL is 140 or lower are hypogonadal (as are vegetarians). They simply do not have the basic building block to mak ethe sex hormones. Just a thought.

Swale what you said about veges - thats very worrying - my best friend is a vege and has brought her children up as veges. Her son is 6 life long vege, so is this going to male him at risk of being eugonadal?
