Maltodextrin the complex carb powder

takes 2 minutes to get 150 grams of carbs

I don’t like eating massive meals 6 times a day. If I can do it with a powder it’s much easier. It’s a complex carbs

easiest way to add 600-1000 calories to ur daily intake
As long as ur protein and fats are right this is an extremely easy way to play with ur carb intake

How’d that one work for you? That’s what I was looking at

It helps dial in your macros without resorting to junk for sure if you struggle with food. It's just a lot of powder volume. Usually protein powder is 1/4 cup per serving where that is 2/3 cup per serving. But like I said it's easier going down than protein powder.

I was doing three meals and then having two huge shakes using that, protein powder, and olive oil to dial in macros and increase calories. Works well for a bulk.

Mixes great with protein in a post work out shake too, taste is super mild. I have had some bloating with larger doses in the past.

I think maltodextrin is a complex carb? Just wondering how it would affect blood sugar, prob not as bad as sugar anyway.

You mesaure 2 cups of oats
You blend it
Get it in your milk along with your protein powder or eggwhites if you use any of theese
Boom

2 cups of oats blended its powder
206,8 C
21,5 F
52,7 P
1.214 Calories

Actually I figured out this is why gas station protein drinks (which I could drink all day compared to home shakes)
Taste the way they do. All along it was friggin maltodextrin that give em that taste it’s in the ingredients

I had some gastrointestinal distress from maltodextrin. Sounds good, I just couldn't deal with the gas from it.

Maltodextrin is an awful carb. You may as well be pounding back sugar.

Oats with milk in a blender is my go-to if I need to slam back a buncha carbs quickly.

I’ve heard this before o don’t understand why it’s bad it’s a complex carb

Maltodextrin to my understanding is a high glycemic carb, there for not a complex carb (or maybe it is a complex carb, but it's digested like a simple sugar). It's absorbed very fast and spikes insulin. Good for shuttling in nutrients into cells after a workout, replenishing glycogen stores and such. That's why you'll see it in weight gainers and post workout mixes. It's also cheap and supplement companies like it for that.

Depending on what you're doing, nutrient timing and such, too much all the time and you're on your way to insulin resistance and slowly to diabetes (worst case). I try to stay away from the stuff unless i'm bulking with wild abandon....

I just wonder how much that would effect insulin resistance whether ur already eating 600 grams of carbs or not. plus gear or test atleast fights insulin resistance.
Plus the glycemic index I heard gets thrown out the window when you’re mixing it with other stuff in your meal

I just feel like maltodextrin itself wouldn’t contribute to type 2 diabetes itself.

It all depends if you keep insulin levels constantly elevated i guess. The poor pancreas can only do so much....

I’m not disagreeing with you I just find it a very bold statement to say maltodextrin can lead to insulin resistance. I’d have to do more research on it I guess

Yeah Rosco on point - it's just broken down very quickly and definitely leads to insulin spikes which will then shuttle it into your fatty tissue. Not great for the body, really only would suggest using it post-workout.

But big carb meals would do the same?

Maltodextrin: What it is, dangers, and substitutes

Read down to "is maltodextrin safe", about 4 sections. Draw your own conclusions.

I have supplements i use that do contain maltodextrin, but if i do use them, it is sparingly, and usually only after training when i do want to elicit an insulin spike. Each to their own , i just wouldn't be taking a shake twice or three times a day where malto is high on the ingredient list.
