Im 50yo. and I have been reading up on BC and I have a slight understanding. I have read alot of threads on here about slow transactions, blocked transactions and flat out rip-offs. This seems about as bad as finding a good source. Can you guys help out.
My question is, what is a good wallet to use? and is coin base still good to use?

I still use coin base. Have for about 2 years now. PIA to set up but after you do, you won't buy gear any other way.

I just got a wallet at blockchain. Haven't used it yet. Up until now I have sent bc directly to my sources from coinbase.

The only reason to use coinbase is for convenience, not only their market price is always above the competition but you're always paying extra fees for them to handle the bitcoin buying process for you...
Once you start using exchanges you will never go back.

Best way to store your coins is where you have access to the private keys, so that you don't end up losing money on hard forks or by exit scams.

You can use Electrum wallet on your Mac/Windows/Linux computer and even Android to store your Bitcoin.

A safer approach would be to use an hardware wallet..
Ledger Nano S would be my first choice.
I'd like to add that this wallet also supports other cryptocurrencies.
