Cramping

Been getting a lot of muscle cramps lately if I move legs wrong or my abs wrong (twisting motions). Takes forever to unknot them. Any suggestions? Wondering if I need to start something like Liquid IV or such.

As a long term random cramp sufferer, Taurine and Magnesium Glycinate were absolute game changers for me.

Literally have not had a single cramp in the 2 years since starting those.

I suspect it's primarily the Taurine, because when people have low Taurine levels(often from cirrhosis), cramping becomes frequent and severe. As we age, it becomes more difficult to digest Taurine from natural sources (meat).

Also has a host of other benefits, including enhanced energy metabolism. It's the "secret" ingredient in Red Bull (get it, Taurine=Taurus).

Excellent. safety profile, up to 3g/day normal dose is 2g) at the most conservative medical guideline.

Cheap too. (especially powder, tasteless and easily dissolvable in anything). $17 for 500 doses, 1kg, Bulk Supplements brand powder on Amazon. I'm not a big supplements guy, but this is the exception. Highly recommend you try it and a week later you'll probobly be convinced. Enhances sleep as well. .

I had this issue as well, ended up adding in Taurine supplement, and use a LiquidIV along with the gallon of water I drink a day. For the most part I don't get cramps at all anymore but it took about a week for them to finally cease.

Defiantly. I was initially "another BS supplement", but I was happily proved wrong!

Yeah I thought Taurine was bullshit too, but it actually helped. of course I also included Liquid IV each day as well and at least a gallon of water. I'd imagine all three helped. Taurine does seem to be evident in helping with muscle cramps though.

Taurine + Magnesium and adequate Salt intake is the key here

check sodium, potassium, magnesium intake. Almost every one of these issues is solved by adding a bit of salt to meal, some potassium to balance that ratio, and some source of added magnesium. Just don’t overdo the potassium.

Bodybuilding/training levels of water intake actually work against us in the electrolyte discussion. We need to replace them at much higher doses than the average person.

This. Electrolytes need to be abundant not just balanced

Making salt the enemy is IMO as big of a complete and total fucking disaster as the food pyramid is. Led people to retarded diet habits that made them fat and unhealthy then decided limiting salt is the solution to blood pressure issues. Absolute madness.

My nonna use to babysit me and my brother when we were kids.

Anytime we’d act up she’d come chasing us “open your mouths , I’m going to give you a pinch of salt until you act right !”

Moral of the story, salt is not the enemy.

Same as some others have said - salt. I used to get really bad cramps. Calves, quads, abs, any muscle actually, especially if i'd worked it hard that day. I tried taurine, magnesium, potassium, none of those helped. But salt and lots of water did the trick.

I'll also suggest taurine. Minimum 5g per day. If I get complacent and miss a few days it can take double that to not get back pumps when on cycle. Get it in bulk and scoop it into some water. Tasteless and super easy
