Bananas! Green, Yellow, or Black ?

Green, just barely going yellow. If they’re too green, the peel is too hard and hasn’t begun to separate from the banana itself and it’s super sticky when you try to peel it. There has to be a tiny bit of yellow to be perfect.

I always go for the green ones too bro. The sugar content is ridiculous at the ripened yellow/black stage.
I cut mine open with a knife instead of trying to peel them.

Green Bananas FTW.

I only buy 5 max at a time because they ripen way too fast and the sugar is too much. I hate seeing food go to waste, so I’m glad there are people out there who like or use them at all stages.

I like green ones that are turning yellow a little. They are just the most delicious, they are not overripe like yellow and already taste like grass. It's the banana flavor. I love bananas

Try peeling your banana upside down instead of from the stem. You get less of the strings staying on the banana and I heard that's how monkeys eat them, and monkeys know a thing or two about bananas.
I think I should ask them about the technique of eating bananas. As a child, I was definitely a monkey, judging by the number of bananas that I ate.

Anyone ever buy plantain and use in savoury meals?
Great addition for stir frys, curries, rice dishes, or even just baked in the oven with some oil and seasoning powder. Doesn't produce as much sugar as a banana when ripe either and they can be stored for a lot longer if necessary.

Yeah, really good for desserts/puddings/cakes at that stage but not good for general eating (too sweet and sickly and the ethylene gas makes them taste horrible ).
It seems to me that this black mess in the form of a black banana is only suitable for the trash can.

Basically, yeah bro, but they can still be used in dessert/cake recipes if you like cooking and not wasting food.

In fact, in most good restaurants... chefs will usually leave bananas until they're over ripe coz the flavour is much more intense when they're speckled, bruised, or black. They've already started to caramelise naturally within their skins so less sugar is needed in recipes.

Banana bread, banoffee pie, banana muffins, banana flapjacks, ice cream FTW.
