aspartame and glycemic levels

Does aspartame spike your glycemic levels significantly? And if so, how great is the effect? For instance, would a can of diet coke take me out of ketosis? Thanks.

According to the gi chart, aspartame does not have any significent effect on your body in terms of glycemic levels and will not take you out of ketosis.

Here is what Dave Palumbo had to say to me about that...

ASPARTAME is an artificial sweetener consisting of the
two amino acids-- phenylalanine and aspartic acid-- that when
ingested "tastes" sweet. This sweet taste can sometimes
trick your body into releasing insulin (something undesireable on the
ketogenic diet); however, we must realize that although insulin
is released, there are still no carbohydrates present. ASPARTAME,
therefore, may cause LIGHTHEADEDNESS due to too much
insulin release, however, it will not take a person out of ketosis.
