Accutane permanent cure?

Personally, I don’t believe high doses of Accutane are necessary. It takes time for Accutane to clear acne and the difference between 40 and 80mg shouldn’t matter aside from potential side effects.

I’d recommend starting with 40mg to address the acute phase of the acne. Once a slight improvement is noticed, reduce to 20mg which are quite tolerable. After some time, you could even switch to every other day dosing.
You’re actually not off here at all. Million ways to approach using this drug it seems.

I read a study awhile back with 4 groups that I think went something like this — 1mg/kg ED, 1mg/kg EOD (or 1st ten days of the month, can’t remember), 20mg ED, 20mg EOD were the groups. The study found that 1mg/kg was the most effective until week 8 of the study, but it found that the 1mg/kg group and 20mg ED group had practically similar results at week 16. I will have to dig deep for this one. This study was looking at initial clearance, as opposed to relapse rates though.

However, if we are discussing minimizing rate of relapse, it’s apparent that the higher the daily dose, in combination with higher cumulative dose, and even time spent on the drug after initial clearance are all factors in minimizing relapse rates. Now, obviously, some get lucky and don’t even touch the 120-150mg/kg cumulative dose and never get acne again. Some need to go far beyond that cumulative dose for initial clearance in some cases. Location of the acne, severity, and individual dose response clearly play a role clearance and prevention of subsequent relapse.

Exactly, the problem with EOD is higher recurrence of relapse. The problem with moderate daily dosing is time to reach cumulative dose while still dealing with mild or worse sides. To me, EOD only makes sense if someone is ultra sensitive to sides or after clearance when they are trying to extend their time on isotretinoin to the 2-3 month mark after resolution, particularly if they have already gone to the higher end of the cumulative dose.

i can’t remember the numbers of how much to take per day per kg but I was around 230lbs at the time and I’ve taken two courses of accutane. I will start by saying 100% this is THE BEST thing to take for acne. Any type of acne including steroid induced. I actually took my second course whilst on cycle and it cleared up and gave me nearly spotless skin whilst I was on cycle. I took 40mg ED for around 2 months. And then 60mg for another 3/4 months ish. It also makes you less prone to acne for life. You can take it a lot longer tho. 1 year and even up to 2 years if you want flawless results. but tbh I didn’t like being on them. They’re pretty harsh on your body and they made me feel tired and depressed. But I don’t regret taking it at all. I’m way less prone to acne now. Even when I run cycles I don’t really get acne at all. I get the occasional little spot but it usually goes within like a day or two. If you suffer from acne and want to run multiple cycles without worrying I would defo recommend doing a course of it. Just beware of the potential sides. I was very dry (eyes, nosebleeds from dry nose, dry joints/joint pain) and the biggest one was my depression feeling (which I never ever thought i would experience as I’ve never felt like that whilst been on any drug or in my life. Any questions or anything about my experience with that just ask! Happy to help

I should have outlined that, so thanks for asking. I ran the Accufine for the course and opted for the Tretiva for the maintenance since at 5mg it was almost like getting the 40mg Accufine for 1/2 price and each box will last way longer at the maintenance dose. Per mg it sure isn't cheaper but that was my dumb logic for changing lol.

You'll absolutely be happy with the results as they come. The girls have commented on how soft/smooth my skin is (aside from the dry spots that popped up here and there) and I was only using moisturizer at night and after a shower. The bulk of the face dryness went away about 2/3 of the way through the course, which was a surprise to me.
do you think its worth getting real pharma for double the price? i mean its already cheap so it would be 90usd accufine vs tretiva real pharma 180usd but yeah if accufine is 100% good then i don't see why i should pay double, but some people said about maybe underdose or smth

If I didn't have it covered by insurance I would 100% use accufine. If I had it to do over again I'd probably do accufine instead of hassling with monthly doctor visits and refills. Underdosing is most likely temperature degradation, so order before it gets hot in India. And accufine is real pharma.

They are both 'pharma' just different brands as far as I know. The Accufine def works, and most that have run it, I think, used that specifically. If you're at all concerned, run the Tretiva. Get enough to run whatever course you plan, plus a bit to be sure the first go round. You won't miss the extra costs a year from now if you opt for one over the other.

I will be running the Tretiva at 5mg as a maintenance dose, but also have decided to taper down the Accufine as I come off so I'll be over the 220mg/kg threshold by a bit anyways. The extra 40mg boxes I have will probably get frozen for just in case.
