why do bodybuilders stay covered up so much?

Why the fuck would you venture into building your muscles just to cover them up all the time? I constantly see these retards wearing hooded sweatshirts and pants, even on a 90 degree day!! Pretty stupid if you ask me, I got into this shit to build my body and be proud of my progress, not to walk around covered up all the time. Its almost like some sort of mental fuck where the guy never thinks he looks good enough or something. I just dont get it. I suppose some people do it because they get sick of questions or the attention, but if they are sick of it then why the hell are they still in the gym. Seems to me like it comes with the territory, really no different than a chick who is anorexic or someone who is extremely obese, it's just another type of extreme. I wear a tanktop or T-shirt if its hot outside, I'm proud of my physique, fuck covering it up 24/7

Body dysmorphia or whatever the hell its called. I know some dudes who are straight jacked, but are always complaining how small they are. They're so tapped in the head that they actually think they are small.

It's like the opposite of the 250lb black chicks walking around in lulu lemon shorts and half shorts.

Shit, I've been covering up since 1980 and stay close to single digit BF. Mind fuck, maybe, but I personally don't need the comments generated by how I look. And I have placed in over 50 shows.

As already stated, it's mostly a combination of body dysmorphia and the avoidance of being labeled an "inept meathead freak" as society tents to categorize those that are beasts.

Body dysmorphia among AAS users/ex-AAS users is more common than you think.

Buddy of mine stays covered up most of the time because he gets acne flare ups on his shoulders. He also does not want all the unwanted attention like others have mentioned.

Its called Megarexia. I get it too, have been so in love w/ getting bigger and stronger (hit 234 yesterday) that I have been oblivious to the fact that my bf levels are to high. Used a hand held tester and bf was 19%.

Definitely cleaning up the diet.

those handheld testers are bogus when it comes to people with a lot of muscle mass, I guarantee you that your probably 5-8% lower than that stupid thing is reading

Thanks Demon...in any event, I do want to lean out. Last labs my cholesterol was high....it had never been much more than 100, whether on cycle or off.

When I got the labs done, I had been off for 4 weeks, and my cardio was down to 2-3 times a week. I do that so as to keep as much size as possible. When on cycle I do cardio every day, 4 days of HIT, and 3 days of steady state treadmill (max heart rate is still at 80%). I eat everything, too, especially late at night. My fat intake is about 120 grams a day. I am cutting most unhealthy fats out.

My weight has shot up on current cycle (450 test e, 250 test p, 350 NPP, per week 60 mgs var 4 days a week). As mentioned,I hit 234 yesterday, up 10 pounds in 16 days from start. Most is probably water, but strength has jumped up big time.

I still want to be bigger, but would look better at 220-225. I really do not have an accurate idea (in terms of what is inside my head) of what I look like. 16 months ago, and I had not done a cycle in 7 years, I was definitely fat, at 235.

I was looking at some tape of me teaching a grappling class back then, and 2 things stood out: 1; I was fat, lol, and 2 I looked like an ape, I could not believe how big I looked. Same w/ the relaxed pic of my back I posted on here a while ago. My wife took it, and I said "do I really look like that? She said yes.

I am terrible at assessing myself. Interestingly, that is the case w/ many bodybuilders. That is why, I don't care if you are an IFBB pro, you need someone to look at you for an accurate assessment.

Back to the OT, Kai Green talked about why he wore a hoodie when in the gym, his main thing was not wanting to sweat all over the equipment. I think he would do better in a tank and a towel to wipe equipment down.

My mental image of myself is totally out of sync w/ reality.

Demond, how is you training coming along? I know you were going through a bit of a rough patch, but keep in mind, you look better than 99.999% of the people out there.

Waaaay more! If you want to have fun w/ a friend who has come off cycle and lost some size, ask him "are you OK, have you been sick?" He will say, "no, what are you talking about?" You then say, "it just looks like you have lost some weight, I was just concerned about you, bro."

Guaranteed he will run over to the mirror and start looking[:o)]

This is the irony of it all. The body image issues often lead bodybuilders to maintain higher BF% so they don't look as good and even "look" smaller. As you know, lower BF often gives the illusion of increased size.

Absolutely. 7 months ago I was 218 and quite lean. I was getting comments from people along the lines of "you look bigger, what have you been doing?" The underlying but unspoken question was "are you doing gear?" I answered "I have been busting my ass in the gym and doing lots of cardio and my diet has been on point. And yes, I am on trt."

Sorry for the narcissistic thread jack, I think I should start a new thread.

I generally answer this type of question with the only possible explanation for the size - Cell-Tech

I use to be scared of cutting cause I thought I would look small. But after posting my picks and getting a reality check I'm down from 215 to 174. when I weighed my self this morning my wife and everyone say I look bigger and more defined.more like an x-frame now.

As far as people dressing up in hoodies It comes from the pros. When they are getting ready for Mr.Olympia they want to hide there body before competition. Every. One else is just trying to look cool in my option. Or maybe they want to be left alone. All i know it's to Hot for all that in Texas you would have a heat stroke.

Screwing with a guy's head during PCT is about the equivalent of asking a woman that gained 15 lbs. how far along she is. If you're bored and don't mind being a cock they're easy targets.

Most bodybuilders who think they look great at a certain bodyweight could lose 10-20 and then they really would look good. For too many, they become too focused on reaching a certain number on a scale and lose perspective on their original bodybuilding goals.

Water weight is not fat, you have to take that into consideration as well because you said you def have some water weight right now.
