Help brewing L carnitine

Alright guys need some advice, I'm attempting to make 40ml of carnitine. It just keeps coming out white and pasty. Where am I going wrong?

25ml WFI
20.2g l-carnitine base
.5ml BA
Going for 500mg/ml

Add WFI and BA to beaker, turn hot plate on low, medium stir. Slowly start adding l-carnitine. I add about 1/10 of the powder each time, but even from the start the solution is white/cloudy and as i progressively add more it continues to get whiter and thicker. It's as if the powder isn't dissolving. Where am I going wrong? Feel free to hate on me for being stupid, it's my first experience trying this. Everything i've read it's very straight forward but i've attempted 2 times now with the same results.

Edit: added pic of the solution after mixing for 20 min.
You sure it's l-carnitine? what does it smell like?

My bulk supplements l-carnitine has never turned white like that. cloudy maybe while it's being mixed but never white.

it really doesn't smell like anything. I bought it from bulk supplements
I don't think it's l-carnitine then. L-carnitine from bulk supplements is super fishy smelling.

maybe you got acytl or tartrate? never used those but those 2 shouldn't be used for brewing or injection.

Acetyl is fine for injections, its one of my most popular blends.
tartrate blows.

Interesting. Any source for that?

Chase Irons said don't brew acetyl or tartrate because acetyl is too acidic, unstable and is more the brain than it is for fat burning. Thats why I never tried it.

I posted what i bought one page back, i read about it being fishy, even after made into the solution but it doesn't smell in powder form or in the solution. My nose is quite messed up so asked the ol lady and she also said it didn't smell like anything. Photon mentioned purebulk being where he got his carnitine, so may try that.

Good call. it's so cheap. Throw that stuff out that you got and get purebulk.

it's legitimately fishy. there isn't any question about it. my wife thinks I have another lady in the house and cheating on her when I'm brewing.

chase irons doesnt have a clue what hes talking about.
His homebrew videos should have been titles "what not to do" or "how to make completely non-sterile products"

Yes Acetyl L-Carnitine is much more acidic, but it crossed the blood brain barrier giving a far better mental/nootropic effect.

Its often blended with regular L carnitine to offset that acidity and make it easier to balance the pH

it will eventually be reduced to regular L-Carnitine in the body so it has all the same benefits while also having the mental benefits.

try increasing the heat
nothing to lose at this point

Terrible idea, ALCAR is highly acidic and unstable. It's going to break down into LCAR and acetic acid(vinegar). Do you really want to inject vinegar? Only way to stop in from breaking down is to buffer it, something that you don't need to do with LCAR base

it is buffered.
Next question?

While youre at it give me a source for your claims that doesnt come from AI and is relevant to the discussion.

come back when you understand the context of the statement and discussion.

How is it buffered?

Why in the fuck would I not use AI? I can learn how to brew anything I want and it provides citations to all relevant studies.

No spoon feeding, you can easily google " what happens to acetyl l carnitine in aqueous solution"

because just like you, AI doesn't understand the context, nuance, or detail of what you are discussing or asking.
And yet it gives you the confidence to "correct" someone who actually knows and understands the subject.

Its buffered with L-Carnitine, NaOH, and PBS.
Acetyl L-carnitine is impractical to prepare on its own due to how acidic it is, you offset this by buffering with a not-insignificant portion of L carnitine base, and Sodium Hydroxide.

The solution i make is 300mg/ml Acetyl L carnitine and 400mg/ml L carnitine base.

Now that weve learned why you shouldn't rely on AI to give you cliffnotes on complex topics you dont even have the base level understanding for, i hope youll approach new subjects of interest in a better way in the future.

Youre welcome for the spoonfeeding
