TRT and sleep fragmentation?

thestruggle

I used to sleep like a baby, then after being diagnosed with secondary hypogonadism and finally starting TRT, my sleep started to suffer gradually.

I wake up every 3 hours or so, and have a hard time going back to sleep. Started ro depend on Zolpidem to xounter the problem, which is clearly addictive and with a cljster of its own sides.

Having suspected and trialed with T, E2 levels for many rounds, I only know that I can sleep well when I minimize my T dose, leading to feeling shit but sleeping well.

I take 10g glycine, l-theanine, and couple other things ro support my sleep.

Do you sleep well on TRT? Would appreciate hearing about your experience and advice.

I slept like a baby on trt.

Once I bumped up past that and added tren, thats when my sleep quality got worse.

How's your screen time before bed?
Staying cool?
Not eating carbs before bed?

Eevn 10mg var kills my sleep, I can't imagine what tren does!

I usually eat a 700-800kcal meal 4h before bedtime, and I'm off screens 30-45m before.

Last night for example, I had dinner around 17, off screens 22:30, bed 23:30. Woke up 01:00, 05:00, 07:50. And in between a hell of a time going back to sleep. Took 2x 2.5mg zolpidem once at 0100, and once at 0500 and still suffered.

If you are more active on the TRT then you are likely more tired and would sleep well. I sleep fine on TRT. But as you have added many things to your sleep regime it would be hard to say which one thing or combination may be the cause. When i don't sleep well i can usually target it to things going on in my life that not what i would like,.

True. I should lprobably quit eth and add as necessary.

Are your TT, FT and E2 levels in range? I find myself having to shoot TT higher than the normal physiological range just because FT is low, and I don't feel good enough. I suspect maybe it keeps me too activated.

Insomnia is your body telling you to quit bedrotting and get some shit done.

When on true TRT my levels are all in range.
"Feeling good" is not governed by just testosterone for me. It can be more about lifestyle.

I've posted a couple links

Way more evidence supporting that than any drugs or supplements for improving sleep quality

How are you taking your TRT? Injection? Cream? If using cream are you applying before bed?

I trialed CBT for a while. It was part of my stack. It improved my sleep for the forst half, but then fragmentation happenes during the 2nd half.

Also, I have noticed that ot lost it's effect after a while, and consodering the costs (100€ per bottle of 25% strength) I decided to drop it.

That's a good question. I apply daily testogel 40mg as baseline + 50mg TE E4d whoch keeps my TT levels at around 1000ng/dl with mod-range SHBG.

I noticed if I apply the gel in the evenings, it affect my sleep negatively.

Overall, I suspect my E2 control protocol (0.125mg anastrazole e4d) is not good enough and that is ruining my sleep.

I’d move the gel / topical to AM. I’ve heard this many times and I myself experienced it when I was using topical test.

I see you didn't do as I suggested lol (search CBT & my name)

CBTi is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, not a drug or supplement

Most of CBTi, except for stressing about sleep onset:)) I already do. I follow a before bed process that calma me down, and it is reflected in my sleep stress levels. However, 2h-3h, stress starts to rise causing sometimes hot flashes even in cool room, and sometimes nightmares, waking me up.

Last night I had an exceptional sleep. Went to bed 1130 and woke up 0630. Straight. Such a bliss.

Evening before spent 3h in hot springs which is not the luxury of everyday life.

This is how i am too, although not on TRT but mostly blast and cruise but sleep was always shit. I suspect Reta made it even worse.

Have you measured morning cortisol? Sorry if you mentioned already. With my guessing I'd say it's cortisol related. For me ashwagandha didn't help but haven't tried to megadose it. Emodin is the most potent for cortisol but still, you need to be careful not to crash it because you'll end up feeling like trash with zero cortisol.

I'm falling asleep fine, first couple hours are in point but then constant wake ups and twisting and turning start occurring.

I did measure morning cortisol few years back and it was fine, but then I didn't have any sleep or hormonal problems.
