The key to understanding GLPs is this:
GLP-1 is the naturally produced "master hormone" that determines the body's "set weight".
Above that set weight appetite diminishes.
Below that set weight appetite increases.
There are numerous potent psychological and physical mechanisms to encourage or discourage energy intake.
The body wants more energy intake:
Digestion speeds up. Mouth salivates. Sense of smell enhanced. Mind floods with thoughts of food.
The body wants less energy intake:
Digestion slows. Foods seems unappetizing. Acid reflux. Throat closed, The thought of eating can be enough to induce physical illness,
This system can be dysfunctional just like a hypogonadal man has insufficient testosterone, a diabetic insufficient (and/or insensitivity to) insulin, a person with hypothyroidism produces too little T4 or T3.
Supplementing with external hormones brings things back to proper working order. We don't tell those people to "willpower" their way to higher Test, or count every gram of food and eat 16 times a day to "manually" manage blood glucose.
GLP-1 production. can be insufficient, for whatever reason, or insufficient sensitivity exists, and coupled with unlimited access to food, bam, too much energy intake and excess weight.
It's should be obvious that when the levels of that HORMONE are increased by exogenous supplementation, and people restore normal weight, biology is playing a major part in this.
We see BBs struggling to eat enough all the time. they take an appetite stimulator and suddenly the impossible becomes possible. No one says "willpower through it" when they're on the verge of vomiting.
To believe otherwise means the skinny, illiterate loser pumping gas is the epitome of "willpower" and not just predisposed to being thin.
Yes, personal choices come into play. Funny thing about that though. Once the incessant food noise is gone, and people don't have to spend every waking moment resisting a body screaming "I'm starving!", they very often DO make much better choices. We see that in the data of the foods being consumed, and ever increasing interest in other areas of health.
Look at all the guys who've wandered in here for TRT after finally seeing progress to a healthier body with a GLP drug.
Enough with the "GLPs are for weak people" idiocy. We know better now, get over it already.
