New sneakers are overpriced pieces of shit lately

Man, fuck this new wave of shoes! These cheap bouncy, foam treads that wear out in about 3 months, I can get abt 6 months max out of a pair of new balance and most recently Brooks, then due to my mass the things get pushed out to one side like I’m some obese motherfucker and I have to trash them! The tread wears down quicker than hell and they’ll no longer walk flat and in the garbage they go. I’m not some 400 lb lard of shit, I’m currently like 240 and cannot wear most new running shoes. If it’s a foam sole it ain’t working for me anymore, and I damn sure won’t be paying $179 or something for a pair of junk shoes that won’t hold up! I may just say fuck it and go back to hiking boots, hiking boots never let me down!

Agreed.
Those fucking foam rubber sides that tear away if they brush against anything.
I listened to a dumbass "shoe guy" & bought some Brooks because they were supposed to be great for my knees. Brooks are sized freakishly narrow to begin with.
I think we gotta be careful, "running shoes" are only for treadmills.

Buy from places that have amazing return policies. I buy all my shoes (minus vans) from REI. If I wear them out before a year I go swap them out or return them.

That's....... for real??? I gotta go check that out.

Very real. I don’t abuse it or anything. Like if i get a year out of shoes I’m ecstatic. It’s perfect for times like OP’s having. Outside of cheap flip flops nothing should be wore out that quick (within reason), so I’d have no problem returning them morally.

You can also return them for any reason. I’ve bought expensive hiking shoes, loved them in the store, gone out west a month later and hiked in the desert for 40+ miles and decided it wasn’t what I needed/liked and returned them for a different pair (or cash if I was going elsewhere).
I love REI and buy as much stuff from there as possible (I’m a big outdoor junkie). Before I moved I was in my home store 2-3 times a week.

Look at military brands that also have clothes and shoes for civilians, they’re top notch grade most of them you can get warm hoodies fleece , hardcore shoes ,
The items they have most of the time are good and bang for your buck because they last , check them out I stopped to buy mainstream brands years ago when I figured it out.

Go minimalist, less foam and crap, wider toe box and less to go wrong. The soles tend to be harder wearing due to what they are too. It does take a bit of getting used to not being on foam cushions all the time though.

You should get 400 miles out of Brook's. I'm on my fourth pair of Ghost's and I'm not a treadmill runner. They shouldn't be blowing out though, that sucks.

Will do, thanks!

All my best and expensive trainers (sneakers to yanks) are hardly ever worn apart from in summer or when I go somewhere where I want to look hip/cool/trendy. My daily shoes are just cheap walking boots but with orthopaedic sports insoles to help my gait and knees.

This absolutely blew my mind. If it's accurate, REI will become only place I'll buy shoes from

Lo it’s accurate. Been a member for a while.

Also they have used things for sale, in store and online. I own many high end lightly used items purchased for large discounts

So true, I fw the classics like AF1s n most Jordan’s n air maxes but many of the new ones are a pile of shit like em red clown boots that all the rappers were wearing a year ago or many yeezys those I really don’t know tf people must be smoking to find cool (I fw Kanye west but most of his shoes I really think are worse than his general mental state recently )

What are some decent brand of minimalist shoes? I had a pair of new balance minimus several years back, but hadn’t owned any since. Any decent brands or this type of shoe out there?

If you’re afters for general wear then the old school Adidas models like Superstar, Samba etc are still pretty much made the same nowadays as back in the 70’s & 80’s & consequently last as long as they used to.

Depends whether you like the old school minimalist look though. Personally I do & like you can’t stand the current styles.

Xero, Altra, Vivobarefoot and some Inov-8. If budget is a concern then Karrimor and Puma occasionally put out some too but they're generally less hard wearing.

Yeah what's up with this? I feel like I'm leaving trails of rubber just walking around.
Ahah ik shoes are turning into shit, that’s why I stick to the basics: AF1s (black or white although I like the black ones, too bad ppl look at you like you finna hit a lick when u wear em), Jordans that ain’t the more recent ones but like Jordan 1s 2s 3s the classics let’s say, n ofc them bad mfka timberlands which also I fw the black vrsn although the white ones are pimp af but I’d worry bout getting em dirty so I ain’t gonna buy a white pair unless I’m loaded. Oh n AIRMAX 95s they are comfy af n look good but will get you looked at a bit bad sometimes
