Anti-Inflammatory Supplements

Would using a bunch of anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant supplements (fish oil, tumeric, etc
) possibly interfere with the body's response to build muscle if taken close enough to the workout. Some studies say yes, others no. I say it only improves my gains, and i feel 10x healthier, especially when blasting.

To the best of my knowledge (which isn't very extensive in this case) inflammation is a good thing. It is what pushes blood/nutrients to an area for healing/recovery. When you take anti-inflammatories, it reduces the recovery and healing. HOWEVER, too much inflammation is also not a good thing and can certainly cause more harm than good.

The way I do it, with respect to lifting, is that I stay away from anti-inflammatory for the first 24 hours, so long as the only thing I am dealing with is muscle soreness (in the case of an injury, I will use NSAIDs, or if the inflammation is causing issues with sleep) I won't touch anything to make the inflammation go away.

That's all very bro-sciency, but it seems to work well for me.

I work out everyday or at least every other day lol.. so waiting 24 hours isn't an option. I take baby aspirin.. just to help prevent blood clotting.. but no other NSAIDs. The main supplements I'm referring to are omega 3's like fish oil and herbs, such as tumeric, garlic, cinnamon, etc.

I'm putting on size pretty damn quickly, so can't say they're hurting my gains... the timing of when you take such supplements appears to be the only important thing to maybe consider.
Sounds like you already have your answer. If your gains are coming on quick, why ask the question? Whatever you’re doing seems to be working.

For clarity, I said NSAID, but really that applies to any anti inflammatory, and I shouldn’t have narrowed it down to NSAIDs only.

I ask the question because of my OCD sorry lol.. it bothers me when I might not be maximizing my progress.. but yeah doubt my it affected my progress

to trigger your OCD even more, maybe you could be making even better gains, but you dont know..

This is something I have looked into before also - In terms of anti-inflammatories along the line of supplements then no, such as Fish oil / turmeric / cinnamon etc as these help your body recover. Along the lines of Anti-inflammatory pain killers such as Ibuprofen and Aspirin - then you are fine up to a limit of say 2 or 3 tablets in a 24 hr period, after this amount then it does limit recovery as the body is no longer healing itself properly as nothing is becoming inflamed enough to warrant a recovery response from the body.

Makes sense...virtually every fruit, vegetable, spice, herb, and heslth supplement contains some sort of anti-inflammatory properties. So, supplementing with that stuff isn't a problem I imagine, but I can see why to limit NSAIDs.

I think they indirectly affect, you just have more comfortable sensations and old injuries hurt less. And you can invest in training better.

Boswellia

Palmitoylethanolamide(PEA) is newer supplement that people have been having a lot of success with. I would take this with curcumin and Boswellia extracts for my chronic pain and it has 100% replace my NSAID usage. The latter of which does have documented effects on interfering anabolism as well as host of other issues.

I cant say whether PEA, curcumin, or Boswellia will have negative long term effects, but in the year I have taken this combo I have face no issue.
