How long would you say?

I’ve been dieting at 1900-2200 kcals per day for a few weeks now, training 5-6 days. Natural. ~175 @ 6’. Pretty depleted. Macros something like 50/30-40/10-20. Picture is unflexed after training.

How long, based on your experience, should I expect to get that “shredded in all lighting” look? My plan is to continue on until I see definition in the abs below the belly button. I know it’s a time game. I’m lighter than I’ve been in years and I guess I’m looking for some perspective as to when I can expect to go back to making some strength and size gains.

Appreciate anyone willing to give me free advice on this!

ETA a pic from a different angle with my shoulders packed. Something I’m working on for posture. That tends to help, and ideally I’ll be working on standing this way all the time.

I hurt my back once working as a roustabout. I was the only gringo on the crew. The rest were Mexican. The oldest told me to take off my shirt and lay down on my stomach. He took a quarter and some cotton ball with vasoline rubbed on it. He put the quarter on the place where my back was knotted up, put the cotton ball on the quarter and lit it on fire. When it started burning good he put a glass jar over the quarter. The fire creates a suction and got the knot out of my back. lol. Crazy Mexican Voodoo.

That’s pretty much the idea. I had a few from being a constitutionally uptight individual multiplied by years of overthinking.

Really solid work man.

How long until you are shredded in all lighting? That's kind of like "how long until I'm completely happy with my physique" type question.

Who knows?

If you get burnt out cutting, switch it up. I'd be really happy if I could cut down to replicate the definition on your abs. I'm coming off of 8 weeks of cutting, but I needed a break. Then I'll be back at it.

I really appreciate that.

I was getting a bit burnt out, and I’ve toed the line for being an asshole a bit too closely, which has created some difficulty. The fat loss has been pretty consistent at 1800-2200 calories but I thought it appropriate to take an extra 150g carbs last night. So I took a 3400 calorie high carb day as a refeed and I’m feeling a lot more stable and ready to continue.. for how long? Not sure, but it’s encouraging for someone who’s never had a defined 6 pack to not lose that hard line on the iliac crest after such a refeed. Hopefully with some dedication and slower digesting protein sources I’ll be cutting diamonds.

I noticed some loose skin on the lower abs before the refeed. I could pinch it and it would hold a crease. That was neat.

I’ve had a lot of success having a mid carb day on the 4th day and a high carb on the 8th day. But then again that’s me. This is what broke me through my weight loss plateau.
Day 1,2,3: 60/200/230
Day 4: 50/325/200
Day 5,6,7: 60/200/230
Day 8: 45/450/200
Then starting back to day 1 but dropping the carbs 20g including the mid/high carb day.

How do these work out according to your maintenance calories? Is “mid carb” maintenance and high carb above?
