Sleep ...

You will find that until your setting is at the desired pressure, you can open your mouth to breathe out as you inhale through your nose deeply because you feel like your suffocating. Once you reach the higher pressure, opening your mouth will cause air going in your nose to vacate your mouth. This is why it needs to remain shut. People go as far a taping it shut. I just couldn't get used to it. Good luck bud. I look forward to the update.

Oh yeah, when I hit about 10.6 psi it's gets tough. I wear a mouth piece to keep my mouth closed. Works really well .

Got 5.6 hours with the mask on.
Nasal pillows....now it is kinda making my nose raw. Woke up and took it off. May go back to the craddle. Wonder if it's just something to get used to?

I am feeling fresher, more lively. 20mg of melatonin and some 5htp knocks my ass on OUT!

if you have trouble getting to sleep and melatonin helps, how long would you say its "safe" to use it before it has a negative effect if any?
i hear a humidifier attachment helps loads with the dry soreness

It doesn't have negative effects.

just collected my cpap from hospital, its a resmed airsense 10 with a full face mask... will report back on success or lack of :) quite excited!!

Great machine.
You can easily get into the clinical settings holding home and the center of the selection dial .

im back in on the 31st so they can check how im getting on, im not even gonna look at the menu yet so im not tempted to fiddle:) think he set it at 8.6 for now for what its worth... apparently i was quite borderline as i only woke 17 times per hour on the test, he says they look to get it at 5 or below optimally

slept a lot better than i thought i would considering i felt like i was on a life support machine :) cant say i feel full of energy but i woke up quite yawny and relaxed which i havnt done in ages. unfortunately the my air app removed my machine from my account as it said it was already in use (i assume by the hospital) so i havnt got any stats (unless they register on the machine ill have a look later)
considering im usually a mouth breather i found i was breathing through my nose all night far as im aware as my mouth felt a little locked down by the air pressure (but not in a bad way)

the only app i found on the app store was for the resmed air mini, for the airsense 10 far as i can see its a case of logging into your acct on the website (based in the uk so maybe different stateside).anyway i reregistered the machine yesterday and its still active. apparently i had just 2.7 events last night :) only issue im having is bruising on the bridge of my nose where the mask is a bit tight. this was uncomfortable enough to wakee me up a few times with visible bruising today so im getting some plasters in the hope that pads it enough. they may try me with a larger mask but he seemed quite keen on sticking with the small if possible as it was a better fit overall (back in on the 31st for a follow up but if my nose keeps being an issue ill go back in before)
feeling very relaxed today but i have to be honest my energy levels arent great still (although im currently finishing up a short cycle on 350mg tren a so im sure thats a factor)

@VAGeo87

I read and saw some videos that showed using a CPAP machine even when you don't necessarily have sleep apnea can still improve your sleep.
What's everyone's opinion on that?

i would imagine that it may help most people oxygenate more efficiently. i must say i get so so relaxed when im awake with it on. the resmed one i have is around £800 on their website, a lot less than the 3 k or so i thought they were and tbh with hindsight i wouldve bought one years ago if id done better research, bit early for me to give you an educated constructive review though

Did you guys get put on a waiting list? My doctor told me it would be 6 months before I could get a sleep study done.

at a guess i waited around 10 months maybe this time round from going in initially to getting the study done after it was postponed a couple times then another couple of months to get the machine (in the uk) be aware though that in this country at least they tell you to inform the DVLA you have sleep aponea and you need to continually use the treatment to avoid losing your driving licence (as far as my research told me)

Anyone ever run regular filtered water in their CPAP machine? Im all out of distilled.

One night wont kill me, right?

i asked at the hospital and they said its safe to use tap water but then said most people just use bottled and there was no need for distilled. i imagine over a period of time you'd get limescale buildup like with a kettle though.
