So I have always considered myself a hobby bodybuilder/strength lifer (BB bench, squat, DL 3-5rep Max PL style) the rest I do standard 4x8-10. I compare myself to mid and high level body builders we see here of course I look like shit. However out of curiosity I looked at local NPC shows, and holy fuck even if I was off juice for a few months to pass a test I'd be shocked if I didn't place. I do have some hang-ups about competing with AAS in past vs. truly natty guys. Some of them had delt proportions and size that leads me to think "juice" but idk. I have the time and money to do a more casual low level contest like these. Though I know there's nothing casual about contest prep.
5'9 about 200lb at %10 Bf approximately, in my mid 20's, though fucked up this cut I'm doing, lost too much glycogen and muscle. I could probably come in 200lb at 7% with 6 months to bounce back.
Supplement only creatine, vitamins, and whey. AAS use is lightly but frequently. E.g. started lifting 2.5 yrs ago, TRT (legit need it) 1.5 years ago, cruise at 250mg since then. Started actual cycles about 6 months later. I do "blast" about 12 weeks on, 8 cruise. But my blasts are either:
Cycle A:
250mg t cyp/week (EOD)
350mg tren ace/week (ED)
Cycle B:
500mg t cyp/week EOD
300mg NPP/week EOD
(I know EOD for test cyp is weird but I like it)
I've ran each cycle/blast once and was very happy and kept 90% (I don't bloat whatsoever at those doses so that helps, had the same 10 AI pills for the last 1.5 yrs lol) don't ever plan on raisimg my doses or adding peptides/hgh/slin etc.
If needed I can post nutrition and lifting program info, but I feel happy with my progression there. Gained 40lbs in 1 year naturally, then another 70 in 1.5 yrs "on". It's slowing down now, still gain about 1.5lb/month but that will end shortly I'm sure unless I raise doses (nah)
Basically I would compete as a challenge, for fun. I doubt I'd ever be able to get big enough to take it seriously. Probably just once or twice. Famous last words I suppois.
TL;DR : how natty is NPC really? Where are the glaring errors in my thinking (I know you guys love jumping on those and I love you for it) are there other organizations in the northern Midwest USA that are "less natty"?
