liquid diet?

Okay so I was curious if anyone had any input on this as to why it would or wouldn't work. Due to work, school, and other obligations, I am unable to get in 6-7 meals a day. Would 3 shakes a day plus 3 solid meals a day work?

By shakes, I don't mean just whey. In them I put:
1 scoop whey
1.5 cup whole milk
1 cup ground oats
1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
2-3 egg whites.
Comes out to about 750 calories, 60 grams protein, 60 grams carbs, 15 grams fat

My goal is to build lean muscle. A little fat gain doesn't bother me. But 3 shakes a day with 3 meals equal in macro's... Think that would work?

I'm asking because I have seen a lot of different opinions on shakes.

1) what makes you think you need 6-7 meals a day?

2) and yes it would work although satiety would likely take a dive somewhat.

I have always been under the impression that the bioavailability of protein isn't very good beyond 60 or so grams, so multiple meals are necessary. On cycle I plan on doing close to 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight and didn't want to take in more than my body could utilize at once.

1) you don't really need that much protein for growth but if you enjoy eating protein then go for it.

2) please don't buy into the bullshit that there's only so much protein the body can use at once. This is not how the human body works but it's a prevalent myth in fitness circles. Assuming you ate a big steak that had 100g of protein or more, do you know how long your body will take to fully digest and absorb that? Hours upon hours upon hours. My point is, eat when it's convenient for you. Use shakes when you want to for convenience. But don't buy into the BS that your body can only use so much protein at once.

Adding to what docD said, studies have also shown your body can stockpile excess protein consumed (like if you ate 50g but the body only immediately needed 25g), and utilize it at a later time if needed.

It helps to remember that man evolved from a world not too long ago where food was not readily available. The body evolved for this.

Your plan is fine man. You can only do what you can do. Eating "real food" is preferred by many over supplement powder because food is food and you typically know what your getting for macros (plus some micros) but with protein powder it's a tough call on whether the protein content is accurate or not.
With that said, if you feel like you aren't getting enough calories in or you need more to grow, then throw a tablespoon or two of a healthy oil into your shakes.

Liquid diet is stupid, IMO. You're gonna be losing water weight mostly. The shake that you listed will be taken nearly the same as if you actually ate the ingredients by themselves. Calories in calories out. If you want to do it, go ahead though, but it really won't have any metabolic advantage to eating the food

Great advice gentlemen. @Docd187123 I always enjoy reading your knowledgable posts. @Megadick3000 Nice follow up to what Doc posted. @Potato you are in good hands here bro!!!!

Throughout the work week I eat three meals a day and drink two shakes on non training days and three shakes on training days. Not just whey either, plenty of real food in them. It works just like when I was working less hours and eating more regular meals. Can't tell a bit of difference.

Lol I tried it and it wasn't so bad. I didn't go 100% liquid.. I did however grind up a sweet potato egg whites milk and spinach into a shake. Not too bad actually.
A friend of my grinds of chicken, milk, and oats and chugs it. He has some mental block that keeps him from eating past his comfort zone so he avoids gagging and... ya drinks it. lmao
