I see it with guys making a 90% + attempt. They can’t get it to budge off the floor so instead of sitting back and opening the hips they use their low back and it fucks them whenthey pop it off the floor. The weight shifts back onto their hamstrings

Finally getting my nerves back. Sumo felt like shit single I haven’t trained it for a while. Bench felt good until I got close to 300, called it there. I think my wide grip Pr is 310 or something so not bad. Felt like RPE 8.5. Gona be doing some minimalist training and trying to shed some weight. I’m kicking around the idea of a December meet but my wife might leave me if I do that, lol

High Bar Squats felt off, was wearing my squat shoes so maybe that’s why. Haven’t done them in a long time. I might try them again in flats.

Yeah I have been using flats of late as well
Low bar with knee wraps the squat shoes really help me push into the wraps and get the most out of the rebound.The squat shoes are good for front squats too. When I wear flats with low bar I normally have to get wider to hit depth, almost like a sumo squat. Last time I had done Hi bar I wore flats and they seemed to feel more natural

In other news, I’m officially a USPA member. Signed up for a meet in March. So I’m technically 23 weeks out,lol. It’s time to start messing with the 2.5 m wraps instead of the 3m. Looks like my training partners are doing this meet. So it’ll be the crew. Well, there’s one that needs some coercion but I’ll have a knee wrapper regardless.

So I tried wearing single ply briefs for squats. Tried one rep at 235 , couldn’t hit depth. Promptly walked in the bathroom and took them off. I now see why these equipment guys squat so wide. I’ll stick with knee wraps as overload. Relatively light workout, just working on some weak points. Now that my right knee isn’t a fucking disaster constantly I’m going to throw in some unilateral stuff to help with imbalances.

I read that the equipment needs a certain weight threshold to even be relevant, or else you encounter the problem like you did...just not enough weight to even hit depth.

After reading / watching a lot by Justin Harris, I’ve decided that slow progress works the best for me for weight loss...I don’t rebound as much, and it’s much easier to maintain for myself.

Absolutely. I’ve been “bulking” and eating sloppy too long. I’d like to get around 205-210 so I can swing eith way to 90kg or 100kg. I’m down 4-5 lbs these first two weeks. Next week or so I May be able to make 1.5 lb a week. From there forward I’ll probably only be able to do .5-1 lb a week.

Haven’t gone heavy on front squats in a while and for some reason everything moved well. I felt like 315 was a 9 RPE but I got peer pressured to go up and smoked it. Then of course they wanted me to go higher. My confidence in front squats isn’t high, normally I’m the one pushing the group and calling numbers to all but our strongest guy. 355 there wasn’t enough strength to get it out of the hole.Probably was there if I didn’t pause it but oh well, it just an accessory anyway. Carbed up last night since my weight had been a bit lower than target the past few days. Had some spaghetti last night and also Had oatmeal pancakes with my egg whites and turkey bacon this morning. Got some wrap advice from a friend at the gym. Seems like a better way to self wrap. I’m gona try it out this week just to get a feel for it even though he will be wrapping me at the meet.
