Who here smokes weed?

I say do what works for you. Everyone is different. I started to smoke when I was experiencing severe PTSD. Nothing else would calm me down. VA doctors won’t prescribe anything that is fast acting for PTSD induced anxiety attack. During that period of my life weed was my go to. However, after using it for multiple years it became an everyday all day habit. I smoked and didn’t feel any different. No more high feeling just a need to stay high. My wife hated it and lost a lot of quality time with my kids because of it. Trying to stop smoking was hell the first week. Second week was still tough. Felt very down and depressed. After a month with no THC it began to get easier to stay away from it. My thoughts were clearer, no brain fog. No more reverse ejaculation issues with climax. No more chronic cough issues. No more drug induced paranoia. Relationships with family and friends became better. Do I miss it? Hell yes!!! Would I ever smoke again? Yes, I do, only occasionally. I can’t let it be my master. To each his own…

My cousin got me into smoking and occasionally smoked with friends.

Started as something I’d do purely with them, maybe every 2 months when I was 17-20ish to full blown smoking everyday or mostly everyday for about 3-4 years by myself after that time.

When I look back in nostalgia I think there were times that it can’t be replicated, the experience you have with people you’re comfortable with is cool, laughing and little worries in that time of my life.

More fun than drinking imo.

As I got older though and I started taking lifting more seriously, responsibility and potential overshadowed the carefree mindset I once had and smoking became anxiety inducing and started to affect my confidence and functionality plus to top it off made me want to binge sugar which isn’t good at all for being in shape.

Also being controlled by a substance isn’t cool.

So yeah, some good times but it was good until it wasn’t so I put it down.

Head is clearer.

I'm "gearing myself up" to quit, im just tired of the ehole "to fo" been smoking since i was 12 and feel like as i age gracefully into my 50's im getting "dinghy" lol
I'm on day 20 now. Pro tip don't quit on a bulk. I'm leaving gains on the table because sleep is non existent. It sucks and if my research is right it's going to last through and past my cycle length. And I'm detoxing off coffee and my prescription Modafinil, so life really sucks right now. Not that you need detox from Modafinil, I just added it to my caffeine detox.

Ooof, I can’t imagine quitting multiple things at once. My stress levels would be through the roof. Have you replaced the weed/coffee with any supplements to help with sleep/energy? I’ve found my magical combo for fatigue is l-arginine with ginkgo biloba, it gives me sustained energy all day, no jitters or crash, and then magnesium and pearl powder at night for restful sleep.

I previously smoked on and off (when I was smoking it was a once a week kind of thing) but I decided to stop doing it all together because its not good for brain development under 25, had some interesting experiences on it doe lol

So I did give up on the caffeine detox because until my insomnia is straightened out because I can't function. I was falling asleep driving, ect. But yes to the supplements. L Tyrosine, B complex w/B12, Taurine, Magnesium, Gaba.
I got that stack and a protocol from Chat GPT. It would explain the why's, doses, and protocol, if you're interested.

Edit, the supplement stack I listed is for the caffeine and modafinil replacement. I used my Klonopin script to help with the weed. Then I used a three day Gaba reset stack to help coming off the Klonopin because even though it's a script I don't normally take them like that. It was Taurine, L-theanine, Magnesium, Glycine, and Gaba.

I'm doing Sober October, otherwise I've been enjoying cannabis for quite some time now. The first few days were tough but it gets easier and helps me recognize patterns being sober. I could recognize them before but now I'm drawing clear pathways and acting on them more consistently.

I don't drink alcohol so I will most likely return to using cannabis again at some point but as a casual user compared to before.

I'm an everyday smoker. Not a lot but a couple/few rips after I get home from work, shower, play w the kids, put them down to sleep.

I'm also a musician (touring and recording), so constantly jamming or playing w band mates in the garage after getting high when the kids are asleep is something I absolutely love.

It's not the best for me health-wise but I don't drink and I love it. Full stop.

I smoke a few times a week, mostly in the evenings. It chills me out and helps with sleep. Haven’t noticed any major impact on gains or gym performance.
