Where do you source your meat?

Holy shit. I'm an ashamed redneck hillbilly coz I fucked that cow pussy pocket last night but I wanna be seen as cool on Meso so I created another random sex story and turned that cow pussy pocket into the female CEO of a million dollar fashion company....(in my own head).

Post edited for accuracy lol :)

That's not how it works in my country (UK). The supermarkets buy from large suppliers that force feed the animals in warehouses for fast growth/quick sale/cheaper prices. Most of the animals never even see daylight.

Local butchers here mostly source from smaller independent suppliers with better quaility produce.
Yeah supermarkets do that, it's logical because they need much and they need it cheap. It's really sad because animals are suffering :(

But here also the "local butchers" do that too because we have too less small farmers for the local butchers and the local butchers aren't allowed to slaughter anymore (thanks EU) or they can't afford the equipment (thanks EU again for the strikt rules) or don't have enough workers.

It's better and cheaper for them to buy halves or the final cuts than slaughter and debone by themselves.

I'm happy that I can do everything by myself, see everything, From Birth to table. I really do love this.

I used to go to Costco for most of my meat. Still do, but they no longer carry prime brisket, which is a bummer, because it was super reasonably priced. I just ordered one from snake river. We'll see if it's worth the price
I used to do the Costco pork loin and cut them into chops. I remember when it was 1.19lb Last I got some over 1yr ago it was like 1.69lb

So beautiful... Idk how farming in the US really works. I don't believe all those documentaries in the tv
I'm sure they all are possibly true depending where you go. I'm on a large grass fed pasture raised farm. But there are definitely commercial farms that probably do what those documentaries have shown or at least have. Not all I'm sure but enough.

Same here, there are always black sheep in every büsiness.
Most people think that Switzerland and austria is the most beautiful and animal loving place.. But hell no... We got so many scandals the last few months unbelievable.

The documentaries are 100% real. I live in rural Iowa and I’ve seen it all. The black sheep in the US meat industry are the ones that are pasture raised, gras fed, free range. The majority of meat in every major super market in America is beef that has spent its life cooped up standing knee deep in its own own shit, fed GMO soybeans and corn, and given rBST hormones. I went to Costco today, and I couldn’t find any beef that was grass fed or pasture raised, only factory farm meat so I had to go to Trader Joe’s. Just sayin…

There is very good meat, my friends order from me and are just happy and satisfied

My main source of ground beef is grass fed organic dairy cows that get put down. Super lean and clean $5lb. Other than that I get ground beef or split chicken breast from Whole Foods.

Do you go local? Cheapest? Meal boxes?

I know of a new meat delivery service starting and they have already had people say they are swapping from butcher box.
If you join the mailing list you can get $25 off an order over $100. Also $20 for each referral and the person referred will get $20 off thier first $50 purchase (I do not need those doesn't effect me)

I can post the link if it's not against the rules so everyone can get in on it early if they want.
I work with farmers and only buy grass fed and grass finished complete. Cheap af and better than anything you'd ever find at a store. I also have my own chickens and bunnys.

The slaughtering and gutting process would be a problem for me. I'm a very experienced chef and I don't have any issues preparing or cooking food but killing a live animal is beyond my capabilities.

During my college training we had to go to an abattoir to understand where meat came from. I watched a pig get brain zapped with electricity, and then hung on a spike while all the blood got drained from it's throat, and it then got skinned and gutted ready for commercial sale.

Terrible experience.

I honestly read and do not want to imagine this. You're right, it's better to take already killed meat and not know how this process happens.
