Do you go local? Cheapest? Meal boxes?

I know of a new meat delivery service starting and they have already had people say they are swapping from butcher box.
If you join the mailing list you can get $25 off an order over $100. Also $20 for each referral and the person referred will get $20 off thier first $50 purchase (I do not need those doesn't effect me)

I can post the link if it's not against the rules so everyone can get in on it early if they want.

There’s a few grocery stores I go to here in my city (Publix, Harris Teeter, or Food Lion). They usually have what I need and the quality I want. Occasionally we’ll go to Costco and I’ll stock up on ground beef, chicken, and steaks because they’re pretty decently priced for good meat. Never used a meat delivery company…they always seem pretty expensive for what you get. I also like to see the actual meat I’m buying first. Looking for fat content, size, thickness etc.

I can definitely show off the meat. It's not cheap but it's all pasture raised. Thick lean cuts. Lamb beef chicken goat turkey. The pork chops are usually 1lb each and like 1.5in thick. Steaks are similar.
But yeah price def won't be grocery level.
Ex. London broil $12lb
Tbone $26lb

I have butcher box. Kind of premium and sometimes the quality of steak just isn’t to par for the price. I actually called and complained one time and they sent me a fucking turkey, pork shoulder, a chicken, a slab of bacon and replaced my rib eyes as an apology. Everything Ive tried from them is good. Comes in a giant cooler with everything pretty much frozen. Ive also tried their game hens and they’re fantastic.

It’s good quality shit just a premium price.

Edit: I also go to Costco for extra ground beef and chicken breast/thighs.

When I was a kid we just went next door to the neighbor, walked out behind the barn and picked which one we wanted, he shot it in the head and we spent the next hours butchering/packing/freezing.

I sorta still do the same in a diff way. His grandkids took over, farms more commercial, still grass fed, but I go see them. Got me on standing order. I walk in get a high five and they bring it out of the walk-in. Benefit of growing up/living in the country.

Not a fish person......actually never ate fresh salmon. I get shit from a bunch of folks sayin im too picky....guess ill have to try it one day soon.

Same on fish here. I keep telling myself to just go fishing and I'll appreciate it more. I know salmon I don't like. Tuna is fine but fish people don't consider it really fish unless you get a steak. I think fish is too crumbly or soft for me

The mac n cheese and baked beans.....mmmmm, now im hungry lol. About the only thing I am big on that comes outta the water is shrimp. I can sit and pick at them all day long! Its been about 2 weeks I might have to get 10lb for this weekend.

White oak pastures
Grassland beef

Been looking into buying a half cow. Live near some Amish and getting to know the butchers. Storing the damn thing is going to be the problem.

Sometimes local butchers can store it or most. Shop around and ask. Especially if the seller is doing whole cows and you pay for slaughter.

I buy meat at the store near my house. I advise you to eat meat - it is very good for the body. I like to eat meat myself and I know how healthy it is. If you want to eat healthy, meat should be your diet. But there are many other healthy foods that can help you to be healthy. So choose the right foods.

I'm happy that I'm a farmer/butcher and hunter in one. So I can get everything from "my own source" and the best quality.

What I can tell is that many "local" butchers do buy their meat at the same source as supermarkets do (I know it, I've been in that business for years). Don't believe all the lies.. If you choose to buy at a butcher, check their production (slaughterhouse and stuff) that they don't lie to you haha.

That's not how it works in my country (UK). The supermarkets buy from large suppliers that force feed the animals in warehouses for fast growth/quick sale/cheaper prices. Most of the animals never even see daylight.

Local butchers here mostly source from smaller independent suppliers with better quaility produce.
