What do you have for me this time, Bob?

Bob, thanks for the info. I'm going on vacation in 3 weeks. I think I will try the diet with one refeed day between now and my vacation. I think it will work!

Incidentally, I hate BobSmith. Coming home from MMA training last night, I thought I was going to pass out. I haven't eaten this few calories since 99/00 when I was training for my first BB competition. Which brings me to a couple questions...

1) How does this diet keep one from losing muscle while being at such an extremely low caloric intake?

2) What is it's effect on the "starvation response" of the body since it is, in effect, a starvation diet.

3) I should be getting around 350g protein/day. After training I just wasn't all that hungry, so I ended up eating only 312 yesterday. (I did eat; just not as much as I had scheduled) Does falling short of your protein requirement cause problems?

4) mmmmmmm, I thought there was a four. It must have slipped my mind.

We may have to work on that aspect of the diet for you. Since your activity level is so high and intense, we may need to work some carbs around your workouts.

Its short duration.

2) What is it's effect on the "starvation response" of the body since it is, in effect, a starvation diet.
Your overall metabolism may slow down a little bit, but I would recommend (at the end of the diet) slowly increasing calories up to maintenance over the course of a week or so. Also, maximum metabolic slowdown due to diet is only like 30%, so even if you max that slowdown (which you wont, you wont be dieting anywhere near long enough), you would still be burning calories.

3) I should be getting around 350g protein/day. After training I just wasn't all that hungry, so I ended up eating only 312 yesterday.
The difference between those two #s is minimal.

BS,

How long are you advocating this diet for Grizzly? It may help me plan my own course out based on that.
For his fat ass, probably 6 months. :D

For a successful dieting strategy, you could do 2 weeks of strict PSMF between 2 weeks of more normal dieting.

I can't do those damn low carb diets... I get too light headed and have difficulty concentrating.. Not to mention they give me a headache and make me one irritable bastard .. lol

Lucky for me, I'm an irritable bastard all the time, so no one notices. :D

Helpful hint: Orange Roughy, though twice as expensive as Albacore tuna per gram of protein, is infinitely better tasting. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy better.

Orange Roughy:

4 oz.
80 calories
16g protein
0g carbs
1g fat

I mist mine with olive olive(using a Mr. Misto) and then dust with blackening seasoning. Last night I used Paul Prudhone's brand(poultry variety), but I also really like Emeril's Essence. However, with the Essence, you must make your own from the recipe. The shit in the store is horrendous.

After misting and dusting, you blacken them. Technically it's bronzing them as there is no butter involved, but whatever. Throw in a pan on high heat and cook until crispy on the outside and yummy in the middle. The roughy is a pretty quick cook. Maybe 4-5 minutes per side.

Go to Sam's club. It's around 8 dollars a bag. 32oz bag.

I seem to be getting the chills quite frequently, despite wearing heavy clothes. Is this a "side effect" of the diet? Is it normal?

Its possible, but not something that Ive ever experienced. Plus, where you live isnt exactly the warmest place on earth.

Great since I switched to a normal, sane, healthy diet. My energy requirements are just too great to be on something like that for more than a few days. So I'm just keeping the breakdown in the general 2800cal/350p/250c/50f area. If manipulating macronutrient ratios got me into competition shape before, then it'll do it again.

Haha! Ok, this is funny. Thursday night I was sitting at my g/f's kitchen table watching her son do his homework. I'm not such a fan of the kid since he's the whiniest, poutiest, little bitch I've ever met. Typical male raised by a woman. But, Thursday, shit, I was sitting there looking at his fat fucking, pouty face and thinking, "I hate this motherfucker! I want to punch him in the nose. Fat little bitch" And I realized that it might be a good idea to start including carbs. Picking fights with 9 year olds is probably a good indication. LMAO!!

LMAO!! Shoulda pounded him! :D

Yeah, I pretty much figured that youd have problems with energy since your activity levels are so damn high. But for normal people it works great.

Hmmm I was raised by a single Mom with 2 sisters. Granted I was in bad shape til I started to awaken at 21, but I can't lay the blame on the women in my life. Maybe you should go the extra mile with the kid. Be a big Bro to him. Explain things to him.

I don't think the diet is good for normal people at all. Those with an interest in fitness it is alright for, but it's terrible for "normal" people. Instead of eliminating whole groups of food, which makes the diet nearly impossible to follow, not to mention disgusting tasting, a "normal" person should simply follow the typical clean eating plan of a bodybuilder.

Diets like this do nothing except to reinforce the concept of "A diet" and not "a PROPER diet" which is followed at all times. Let's say that, magically, there is a "normal" person out there with enough will power to follow this diet for 1 month and they drop 20lbs. I guarantee they put in on in 2 weeks by gorging themselves on horseshit food/eating like they used to.

All in all, I give this PSMF a HUGE thumbs down and a middle finger to boot. With that said, I do plan on implementing it for 3-5 day stretches at times during my current cutting phase. Then again, plans can change.

Freedomfighter- The only explanation he needs is written on the back of my hand. ;) I don't have any children(thank fucking god!) but I've sure got the parent-speak down. "You keep crying and I'll give you something to cry about!" :D

Grizz, you are correct about lazy normal people. I was using "normal" in reference to those of us that actually workout. My error. As you will/may try, it can nicely be implemented for shorter periods of time during a cutting phase.

Other than that, I think youre a big pussy for dropping out. :D
