What are your views on the police?

Considering most of us break the law. I was curious what everyone's views on the police are?

I try to avoid the police. I don't like them, but I don't dislike them.

I have never seen a cop who looks like he's on gear though. Contrary to popular belief that most cops are on steroids..

Just like any other thing on this planet…

Solid mix of great people and trash.

The higher you go the more fucked up shit is going on.

It’s the American way.

Police would be no issue if the systems above them weren’t constantly creating unconstitutional and infringing laws and then covering for the enforcers of those laws when shit goes sideways. Cops can be as good or as bad as we let them be.

What laws would you give examples of?

I do agree. But it largely depends on where you live. You're more likely to encounter strong constitutional support by the police if you live in the county instead of the city. As sheriffs are elected and local/state police leaders are not elected.

It also really depends on the political demographic where you live. The police aren't going to enforce unconstitutional gun laws in Texas for instance.

I have no issue with them. If I break the law, I should be held accountable for it if I get caught and someone has to do the catching. As has been mentioned, there will be good and bad but that's just society as a whole too.

I’ve got a tremendous amount of respect for LE. I have lots of friends and brothers who are in many different areas of LE. They all know I’m on gear, but they don’t give a shit. Some of them are on too. Most LE have very dangerous jobs and none of them know if they are going home at the end of their shift. Most have good intentions and are trying to do the right things. Always a bad apple or two somewhere, but we are dealing with people, so that will happen anywhere because we’re all flawed as shit. I don’t worry about them on here or in everyday life. If smoking a little weed, and using some gear I get online in small quantities is the worst I do, I’m probably going to be all good in with LE.

I have met horrible police and corrupt police, I have also met amazing police. I have worked with police catching bad guys, and I have gotten caught being the bad guy.

I love that we have police and I wished we had more. One thing, at least in my country, many forget is that police are human. Many times the issue of bad behavior of the few becomes a defund all police scenario, which is really bad. The training I and them got/ get does not prepare you for a lot of situations and ptsd is a real thing, horrible to cope with at times, it's also extremely ungrateful, as with most blue light jobs.
Expect all and more, gives nothing back to them. I was spat at, punched, threatened, harrassed, stalked and in all that I got one call in one year "are you ok?". They have it way worse imho than I had it.

I truly hope more get more support in the future.

police should be held to the highest standard of law and constitutional rights of America and its people, but instead they try to enforce their will on us because they feel uncomfortable with a video camera or the way someone looks or the way someone walks. so its odd, these people are supposed to protect and serve their community but constantly make their communities look like shit. When they dont answer calls or come and help, or take their sweet ass time to show up. police should be treated the same as a regular citizen. They are not judge and executioner as that has been shown before hand. so i think over all the training should be more proactive and the psych evals should be more often

What about the Police here in the forum?
Do you belive that many are active undercover here?

How do you feel about this?

Love the police and back the blue. But I come from the south and have a military background so it’s a bit different for me. I also try and remember that just like there are bad teachers, bad cooks, and bad sources.. there are bad cops. But that doesn’t mean they are all bad.

Police simply enforce the law, they don’t create the law.

Now lawmakers, politicians, lobbyist on the other hand…. Those are the ones writing policy and pulling the strings behind the scenes. Those are the fucks I have issues with. The United States Government overall at the federal level needs a lot of work.

Oh… and to your point nightcrawler.. lots of cops are on gear. My best friend is a cop in FL, 6’3, 260lb with abs…. been juicing for years. I know at least 5 others and many in the military are also on gear.

I have no problems with the police. I have even mad respect for some corrections officers as I just got out of state prison a year ago after breaking the law getting caught and then taking responsibility for my crimes I did 5 years in state prison. State prisons where I am from are like jungles with wild animals. No order, drug infested, and extremely violent. My advice is make the police your friend and don't do anything to have to go to prison. ... it's sucks.

honestly police arent that bad but what is bad is snitch ass mfers... They are the worse and should be dealt with just saying. cops help protect the innocent but they also be fucking power tripping becasue they got a gun and a badge. As well as if they shoot a mfer who is innocent they should see prison for life. just like any other person they shouldnt be allowed to use that its a sympathic nervous system or some stupid fucking shit like that.

God the amount of bootlickers on this form is heinous.

OF COURSE all of you who say “yeah my brothers are cops yeah I’m military I love cops they don’t bother me” you guys love cops. YOU’RE IN THE CLUB

Ever pissed off a cop? Ever tried to make one do his job when he doesn’t want to? Ever had an entire shift come after you and harass you because you upset one of his cop buddies? No? Because you’re in the club.

“I don’t break the law” guess what. Everybody breaks the law. Jay walking is illegal. You just get preferential treatment. Cops 100% selectively enforce the law to protect their friends and the upper class. If you don’t fall into either of those categories, get fucked.

Fuck 12

Addendum: I have cops I’m on good terms with, even cop friends, I’m privileged I’m by no means oppressed myself. But I see it first and second hand constantly and I don’t trust any cop friends.

Tell me you dropped out of high school without telling me you dropped out of high school.

Define “the club” for me. If being in the club means taking calculated risks (the ones that don’t piss off an entire shift) and exercising my intelligence to not piss off the police, then yes.. I am in the club.

It’s not about being in the club and getting preferential treatment, it’s about not breaking the law in front of a cop like a damn idiot, or being smart enough not to get caught. Does everyone break the law? Yes… but you have to be smart enough, our powerful enough (which also requires intelligence), to get away with it.

Stop with all the oppression BS…

Ultimately, life is a game. You either play the game or you don’t. Play the game and you might earn some money and stay out of jail. Don’t, and you’ll probably find yourself making ignorant rants on steroid forums in between shifts at your minimum wage job talking about privilege and how you’re not in the club cause you pissed off the po-po.

but cops do be power tripping lets be honest we have all seen it. not all are bad but there is plenty of them that power trip and try to over extend and bend the law to their views. also you gotta understand that some people here might of been on the opposite end of that. I think cops are needed to protect the innocent and enforce the law. But with that being said they need to enforce it equally. not just in low income areas. also they have to give equal interest in low income areas as those rich ass areas as well. it is protecting the community not protect the powerful and shit on the poor. As well as cops should again face the same LAW that citizens do as well. you kill someone you go to prison you dont get a slap on the wirst and relocated to a new department. Murder is murder no matter what the circumstances are. Rape is rape. Assualt is assualt shit cops can charge anyone with assualt if they bump their damn knee or elbow or get a tiny scratch from the car when loading someone into it.

Cops are necessary. Not for me, but for the community as a whole.

I’m a 27 year old man living in Texas. There’s nothing the police could do for me that I couldn’t do for myself much faster. BUT, if I’m at work, and someone tries to bother my grandma or wife, I’m glad they can call the police to do something about it. I’ve had lots of encounters with cops and it seems like no matter how respectful I am, I never just get off with a warning. If I miss a yellow light by 0.1 seconds I’m getting a ticket. In that regard I believe they are just useless tax pirates.

My issue with police forces is the very questionable requirements to become a cop. I actually went through the process and got the highest score of my group on my civil service exam. They start at 70k a year for paid academy, and within 10 years you cap out at 95k a year in my city. That’s a good chunk of money for living in Texas. I disclosed all of my drug use in my teen years and they were okay with it. The thing that disqualified me was an ILLEGAL arrest made against me 8 years ago that was never prosecuted or put on my record. So as long as you’ve been sober for 5 years they don’t care if you smoked crack, shot up meth, etc. But if you got CAUGHT doing that stuff you’re disqualified. And I could’ve easily lied about that arrest because it was unofficial and thrown away. Nobody knows about that incident unless I tell them. Something just seems “wrong” about the fact that had I been dishonest, I would’ve been hired. How many cops are arresting people for having drug residue in their car when they were just doing drugs themselves a couple years ago?

The other thing that bothers me is the physical requirements. It’s just a rowing machine test. I was in the room full of fat slobs, tiny women, and complete nerds. I’ve boxed and wrestled for a good chunk of my life. I’m confident that I could outrun or beat the shit out of 99% of the police in my city. And I know that when you’re insecure about your ability to protect yourself, you’re way more likely to use a weapon. I believe this is why so many cops are quick to pull out a baton or gang up on someone and beat them halfway to death over a traffic stop. There is no John Wick “360 wrist turning” technique that a 155lb non-athlete female could do to stop me from taking her gun and going on a rampage. That does concern me.

Power tripping? Absolutely! But that’s a human flaw. Teachers, doctors, judges, tax auditors, managers, supervisors, all power trip. Not just policy officers. That’s just a characteristic of fucked up human nature.

The sad reality is… to be poor, is fucking hard. And if you’ve studied economics/statistics at all, then you know that there is a disproportionate amount of crime in poor areas. Because when you’re struggling, you’re more than likely to break the law. And because you’re more than likely to break the law if you’re poor, there will always be a stronger police presence there. Media tries to make it about race and divide us, because the sad reality is, people are usually too stupid and too lazy to study this shit themselves and see that it is an issue with American culture/poverty and not race.

But I digress.

Murder is murder and assault is assault; I agree. But what does that have to do with the police? Are you stating that police witness murders and don’t make arrest? Or witness rapes and don’t make arrests?

Either way, I respect your opinion. I respect everyone’s opinion, unless they come in and start insulting people.

I’ve also noticed the “pro police” crowd have no sense of accountability whatsoever.

They seem to think that if they acknowledge bad cops exist, then they’re saying they hate them or something.

My old boss was a little 5’5 dork in the citizens police academy. He had the “blue lives matter” sticker on his giant lifted truck and he would defend ANYTHING cops did. You literally could not convince him that maybe a cop abused their power or made a mistake. No matter the situation, the cop was right to him. And I meet a lot of those people in Texas.

im saying when police kill innocent people, when they assulat innocent people for not listening when they arent being detained and them no breaking the law at all just cops power tripping. I know its the human flaw but for them to be in the position of power they have to be held to the same standard as us but in reality it should be a higher standard. And yes most people should study economics. But with that being said its Treason at the highest level what the American Govt does to the American people. It pushes down the lower class of people and makes them dependent on them or pushes them to look at doing things that break the law. But if you are a politician or apart of a 3 letter agency you can do it and its fine. Or even Better lets examine how pharmaceutical companies sell drugs that literally have sides that KILL people it states in there warning and they dont face prison time, the best example is the Opioid epidemic they created and left the people struggling to kick it to rot in prison. or just offer other highly addictive drugs. Look truth be told is the whole fucking wheel is fucked! and needs to be dismantled and rebuilt by people who aren't motivated by their own fucking greed. BUt sorry i ranted a little bit but it is what it is. I mean we are literally slaves in this country people just cant see the chains around our necks. (taxes)
