VMaxPro - Velocity-Based Training

Not a powerlifter here (I'm a sprinter), but I'm curious if anyone has any experience with applying VBT (velocity-based training) principles to their lifting? Particularly using a device like the VMaxPro or Push band, or GymAware or Tendo, or anything similar. Have you had success? What kinds of insights did it offer you regarding your training/programming/periodization? Any other thoughts?

I just got a VMaxPro, and have been having some fun messing around with measuring bar path for olympics, and comparing power outputs between lifts, between reps within single lifts, and between weights and sets. Interesting to see where maximal peak and average powers and velocities happen, so far.

Wasn't my thing but I know a lot of the Starting Strength forum folks were into these sorts of bar meters as a way of quantifying RPE. There were able to really tweak otherwise impossible to see issues with form etc using the instruments.

I made a thread about it awhile back. Not much there, but that's it.

That’s interesting. I can see it, for sure. Losing speed before the second pull in a clean, not accelerating near the top of the lift, etc. Very cool stuff. It’s been informative to see what moving RFD and power outputs have been, so far. And bar path differences and avg/max velocity differences between say block cleans, hang cleans, and hip cleans. I’ll have to check out that forum. Thanks!

Ah cool! Thanks man. That’s useful. There’s an NSCA primer on VBT, if you haven’t read it. A couple interesting ideas regarding programming and implementation in there.

Just out of curiosity, at what % of your 1RM you found your max power output (for whatever lifts)?

In general, such experiments are also interesting. I wonder if someone has a positive experience and, most importantly, there may be some articles with a detailed description.

Buddy, but you can give a link. where to read your post. thanks in advance
