USPS Requiring Address?

Picked up an int order from the post office today for the first time (usually domestic) and I had to sign for it. One thing that threw me off was that they asked me to write down my address after I signed it using the digital interface. Do they usually do this?

Had the same thing happen to me recently. Went to the post office, was asked to print and sign name, then write address into the electronic pad.

I witnessed the guy in front of me doing the same thing picking up his package. Seems like standard procedure
