Ufc

Guys being that i have fought before i look at ufc as a learning tape. I fought i ohio for this absolute combat fighting back in july. This guy came from another state to fight me and he had 5 years under his belt, his own karate school, and brazil ju jit su. I only got to fight because i knew the guy who was setting it up and he turned to me when he needed a fighter to fill in. I got the ok to fight only one week before the fight, and alls i did that week was watch the old ufc's. Those things tought me more then anything else. I don't train anywhere else except my basement and that guy never got a hit on me. He won but it was because they stopped us while i was putting him into submission, because they said we were to close to the sides which is bullshit. Anyways he got me in the guard and i went for a leg lock but he got my arm right when i was doing that. I beat the fuck out of him though during the fight. I had plenty of hits on him and i cracked 2 of his ribs.

The best UFC are the older one's. The one's that show gracie, shamrock, tank, frye, severn, coleman, etc. Those were some real competitors.

I smell a little bit of exaggeration. The only person with an 0-1 record who lost by arm bar in that event, as per the FCFighter database, lost in 1:14 in the first round. Plus, that particular fighter's name fits well with a guy who would use the handle Mr. Pimp.

Sorry, but I couldn't help myself. I've heard enough big talk from "fighters" to be cynical enough to check these things. I guess it's warranted, though. It sure was in this case.

Esco- I liked the downward elbows, knees to the head on the ground and the stomps/soccer kicks. Other than that, I don't really think anything is missing. I'm glad they started using gloves. I don't need to be breaking my hand. ONe broken hand equals a shortened career and a very painful shortened career at that. I have enough trouble with my wrists.

that's true ... i agree .... about the broken hand thing ... makes me think of the boxer GOTTI ... it breaks every fight .... but he is a brawler.

Plus, his skin is so brittle it practically cuts on his way to the ring.
Ol' Arthur Gatti.

To top it all off, Mark Kerr lost his comeback fight. What a terrible weekend. Heath Herring must really be slacking in his training or soemthing, too, because Gan McGee went the distance. Herring is just about done. I think I'd take a fight with him now and even expect to win. Although, he's one slick mother fucker. I don't know how he does it, but he pulls out some crazy shit and escapes EVERYTHING.
Did you see the movie about Mark kerr? Man, I kinda felt bad for him. Seemed like he was his own worst enemy. With the bitchy girlfriend and the pain killers. You cant help but like the guy, it sucks that he lost his comeback fight. I was home sick yesterday so my wife went to the video store to get me some flicks. Shes a good gal, she got me the UFCs greatest hits. It was just highlights from 20 or so fights. It was great!! When I was done I was out in the garage with 102 temp bangin on the heavybag. LOL

Yeah, that movie is sad. I don't like his girlfriend(now his wife, though they may have divorced from what I hear). She was kind of ugly, but a hell of a body. What they don't show in the movie is her junkyness. Crackheaded ho fucking up a great athlete like that.

It was kind of cool that they showed him shooting his 'bain. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't include any shots of his steroid use. I just wish they had so that it would shut up the retarded MMA fans who don't have a clue about steroid use and rag on any of the guys who get caught, yet they proclaim the greatness of guys who are obviously juiced to the gils but haven't been caught.

"Oh, it was the steroids that made Tim Sylvia and Josh Barnette the champions. Maybe they should have trained as hard as Mark Kerr, Mark Coleman and Don Frye. Then they wouldn't have had to use steroids." Bwahahahahaha!

I loved the fight between Tank Abbott and Don Frye. I figured Frye would win pretty easy by getting him out of breath and on the ground. But Tank punched the hell out of his face before he did choke him out. I thought that was a good fight for Abbott because Frye usualy does good with his hands. But the best fight was between Vitor Belfort and (cant remember name) Wrestler from USA. Man, i just dont like that guy Belfort and wanted him to get knocked out so bad and this guy figured out how to defend himself from those fast as hell punches and knocked his ass out. It was Great!!!!!

what UFC are you talking about. That sounds like an old one. Vitor Belfort is a great fighter. I have been waiting for him to come back, but i do like Randy Couture better. Their both great fighters,i would have liked to see that fight. I waited up for 30min just to see the fight get stopped. That really sucked

O and diesldud,Don Frye, besides being a pussy, only throws fast punches, but Tank throws cannons. Frye would never be able to go toe to toe with tank. Did tank fight in this last one? Are you talking about Tank and Don fighting in this last one(Frye came back)or are you talking about 12 UFCs ago?

Frye a pussy? What kind of crack have you been smoking? Name me one other fighter who had both of his ankles broken and still didn't tap.

that doesn't make him tuff.I knows guys who had worse than that and didn't feel the pain until the adrenaline wore off. He never showed me anything in the UFC. He should just stick with movies as Magnum PIs body double

No, it's impossible to be "tuff". One may be "tough" but they can never be "tough". :)

Actually, not tapping to the pain is the definition of toughness. You must mean he's not a talented fighter. Compared to a lot of guys, no, he's not. But, he is a good wrestler and he has pretty good hands. Let's also not forget that he's damn near 40.

He's beaten a lot of very good fighters. He's taken out Coleman twice now and Mark isn't anyone to poopoo.

Yeah this tape was a "Greatest Hits" of old fights. I think that was the name of the tape. You are right, Belfort is a great fighter. I just like seeing those Gracy guys get beat.

1st let me start with you wiseguy :-) OK so i was never good in English class... The only thing Coleman had going for him was his strength. If he was just another good wrestler,he would have never made it as far as he did,if you want to call it far. Don't get me wrong, they are all GOOD fighters, but i like the GREAT fighters. Now a 40yr old Randy Couture is a GREAT fighter. I want to see the Re-match or an accual fight with him and Vitor and i also can't wait for the Chuck Liddell and pussy boy...i mean tito ortiz fight.

I don't really look at Vitor as a Gracy type of fighter. He has unbelievable hand speed and will take the fight to his opponent, unlike the Gracy fighters. When i think of Gracy fighters,i think of Joyce,so i guess it's not really fair to judge them. I don't like it when guys win from their back, unless they are also skilled enough to win in other ways. Joyce would never last in todays UFC,because they would keep standing him up,until he got knocked out. I would really like to know how guys like Tito and Randy can fight so long without ever getting tired. They call them cardio machines, and i think that's incredible. I know what it's like to be in great shape, serving 4yrs in the Corp, but to have someone trying to kick your ass having all that adrenaline pumping and still being able to stand is just amazing. I see not all those guys are in that kind of shape, and i think it has alot to do with genetics.I'm not talking about the guys just hanging out in the gaurd or mount and not working the fight.I'm talking about the guys who come out swinging the whole round, just to go walking back to their corners without ever being phased. I'm watching UFC now,so i'm kinda pumped :-)

In his day, Coleman was great. He won the Pride HWT. Grand Prix and pride fighters are much, much better than UFC fighters.

Sure, he's old now and hasn't evolved like a lot of the newer guys, but he was still great. Hell, is still great. He'll out wrestle almost anyone out there right now.

Who do you consider great?

i only watch UFC,so i guess that's why i don't see him being that good. I thought a top Pride fighter was going to fight a top fighter in UFC? What makes Pride fighters better? Randy coutour is a great fighter. Don't you fight? Have any videos? Maybe of some of the people in your class fighting?

pride fighters are hardcore ... as far as tank, ya he throws bombs and all but those bombs didn't mean shit when he was too busy tappin out when he had his comeback match.

when did he come back and who did he fight? I'm talking about fighters dukin it out with tank not choking him. If UFC fighters aren't hardcore, then i gotta see these pride fighters.
