Anyone looked into this?

From what I've seen it looks really appealing to me personally, as I have mixed feeling on hard weight cuts, and love OHP.

What's everyone think? Screenshot_20171102-104425.png

Looks appealing to me... I dig OHP more than bench and just switched from sumo to a conv stance a little bit ago so sign me tf up! That’s the untamed strength guy if I’m not mistaken - does he help run it or what?

He competed in one of their meets this past weekend , I don't believe he's affiliated in any other way.

I'll go ahead and start the fire; I think all guys should pull conventional.

Let the wars begin haha

I watched his video... I did think it was weird how they weighed him at the end.

I think it's a decent idea, but im definitely biased as I don't do hard weight cuts.

To be fair, I haven't yet ran into an issue where anyone doing a big weight cut has caused issue for me at comp, but I don't have many under my belt. I imagine it's pretty tough at the higher levels to compete at 220 with guys that are actually 235+ on the platform.

I wish there was something coming up in this fed near me.

Looking the same for strongman, I'll be lucky to get one comp a year without some serious travel.
There’s one strongman comp a year near me and it’s a very large event, I was looking into the lightweight catagory and it seems everyone is either 199lb or 200lb on the dot I was hoping there was something lighter but there isn’t so I’m not even close to what I’d need to be competing in that comp. ill probably travel for my comp too.

I really dig the weigh in after your final deadlift though that could be a huge game changer to lifting comps in general

I think most of their ideas for the comp are awesome. Weigh-ins 2 days before the meet always seemed stupid. Weighing on the way out is a way to keep folks honest. They don't want people pulling weight. They want folks at their peak. I would definitely go to one near me.

I'm not a PL guy but I enjoy watching big lifts, wouldn't this approach ruin much of the experience?

You don't know if what you're watching is a record attempt in a lower weight class, or just a good lift in the next one up - that would dampen the crowd cheer and entertainment, no?

The words crowd and powerlifting meet aren't synonymous in my neck of the woods. I think pulling weight is for nimrods. In the end, shouldn't you be where you are the strongest? I pulled weight for years growing up wrestling and never thought it was a great idea. I want to see people at their "normal" weight at peak strength. With all the different organizations who can keep track of what the records are other than the big dogs. I just want to see guys compete, do some big lifts and have a good time. Hell, i would like to participate if i could ever get my deadlift working again.

You have to choose your weight class before competition. So you're competing in a weight class still, just disqualified if youre overweight after you lift. They won't just move you into a new class if u come up heavy or light.

Depending on the length of the comp,I could drink up to 2 gallons of fluid and put on nearly ten lbs. On the daily I can fluctuate as much as 12 lbs. (From 264 to 276)
