Trans female to compete in Olympics

what everyone referring to in this thread as a "trans woman" isnt really a woman at all. The person is male. The person also decided to mutilate their own body and introduce drugs into their body. Just because the person performing the mutilation probably went to medical school, it doesnt mean it has some magic ability to change biology. I dont know at what point in history people started getting so dillusional that fantasy became widely accepted as fact.
No mutilation in this case. That dude still has his testicles and everything.

I have one response to this.
Fuck it. Just do away with men and women’s leagues altogether. Do away with the drugs tests and let everybody take whatever they want and as much as they can handle. It’s literally nothing more than entertainment and I want freaks. I want them loaded on amphetamines, hgh, peptides, grams and grams of gear. I’m ready for bionic limbs. I want the women to look like Matt Kroc before he decided to become a woman. I want Eddie Hall in a sports bra going head to head with Mecha Godzilla. Of all the things to care about, fairness in entertainment is last on my list. I want the best against the best because I’m all for equality. If you can’t hang get back in the kitchen and cook something for champs.

See, this I can agree with.

Now we are talking. This I can get behind.

I think this turned out about as well as any reasonable person could hope for.

Laurel Hubbard, the first trans athlete to compete in the Olympics, zero'd out on her lifts.

She first attempted a 120kg snatch and lost control of the bar, couldn't stabilize it = reds all around. She then went to 125kg and technically made the lift but received two reds, still didn't stabilize it enough to the judges liking... Personally, I think they were being a little strict but it was a legit call by the judges on upper body movement... They were even more strict with the other American competitor that I thought was an unfair call. Third lift she just couldn't manage it, not strong enough. Bombed out entirely, I'd think it's unusual to see at this level.

The biological women, on the other hand, kicked ass. Sarah Robles easily snatched the same 120kg opener. Went onto 125kg and then 128kg, whites all around... She had more in her.

Li Wenwen, gold medalist, opened at 130kg - whites. Made 135kg look easy... (297lbs) and made 140kg look even easier... (309lbs). That's an Olympic record. She went on to win two more Olympic records in the clean and jerk.

Hubbard had absolutely zero chance of even winning a medal even if she hadn't been DQ'd. It was awesome to see these women win what they earned.

Good writeup.

I thought it was a bit arrogant for her to put down 120 for her opener when you look at who else opened at 120.

I disagree that she had no shot at a medal. If Robles OR Campbell were in bad shape that day for whatever reason or judges made a very harsh call that stood against either of them, it was possible that Hubbard could have won bronze. It would have been bad for weightlifting if that had happened I think.

Other than that, agree on all points. She's retiring now I believe.

Yeah, I agree with you. What I was getting at was mainly that even if she didn't bomb out and got just one of her lifts, she still didn't have a shot at winning a medal with all other things being the same. Wenwen could have had a bad day but, she was easily lifting 20kg more than Hubbard - it would have been a long shot.

Still, you're right that it was close enough she still could have had a chance if people had shown up a little different. Robles would have only beat her by 3 kilos if she had managed to steady her second attempt... Also hard to say what would have happened in the C&J if she had made it that far.

All sports entertainment was better when politics and personal lives were left out of it and ppl just tried to kick some ass!!!

Fuck it all at this point. I can't even stand to watch something like the Superbowl anymore, let alone some trans idiot trying to lift a barbell.

All this overshadowed a male setting a world record lift - 488kg - that's 1,073.6 pounds!

Ironically, the show may be over. Weightlifting may have had its last Olympic event. It is not currently planned for 2024, due to doping concerns by the International Olympic Committee. The IWF is going to have to jump through some hoops if they want to stay in the Olympics.

I feel like I am a pretty strong guy, but I am not sure that I could hit 1000 lbs overhead if I counted log press, axle press, snatch and C&J combined. It MIGHT be right at 1000... maybe on a good day

All of the numbers discussed in this thread (except for the last one) are a combination of the highest of two lifts, (1) snatch and (2) clean and jerk. Click on the video above, and you will get a better sense of what is happening with Olympic lifts.

So two lifts added together are 488kg.

Still, watching that dude hoist more than 500 pounds overhead is pretty impressive. There is a lot of technique to it, but the strength has to be there.

Obviously, steroids help a lot, which is why they are so present in this sport. The last Olympics, or the one before (don't remember) saw the women's silver and gold both disqualified for Winstrol. The bronze was later awarded the Gold.

Yea, I got that part, I was just making a point that I don't think I could hit the same amount of weight with 4 overhead lifts as Lasha can with 2. And the the other things is, none of it looks like max effort for him. I think he could total well over 500 if he went RPE 9.9 on his lifts

Sports has become politicized to such a degree that it sure became a turnoff. You can say that Colin Kaepernick pretty much started this one and it now has spread to more sports and now athletes are becoming "woke" which is getting pretty sickening.

The Olympics sadly now has become infected with wokeness...sad.
